Campeões olímpicos e mundiais na Taça do Mundo de Setúbal. Os holandeses Ferry Weertman e Sharon van Rouwendaal, medalhas de ouro no Rio de Janeiro 2018, lideram elite mundial. Angélica André e Rafael Gil, José Carvalho e Tiago Campos formam equipa portuguesa. A elite mundial de natação em águas abertas está concentrada em Setúbal no dia 9 de junho para a 12.ª edição FINA Marathon Swim World Series 2018 Setúbal, terceira etapa da taça do mundo. A mais importante competição portuguesa em águas abertas – por duas vezes qualificação olímpica, Londres 2012 e Rio 2016 - terá integrado no seu programa o Open Challenge, prova aberta FINA Marathon Swimming World Series, com cerca de 500 nadadores inscritos. A terceira etapa da Taça do Mundo 2018, organizada pela Federação Portuguesa de Natação em parceria com a Câmara Municipal de Setúbal, naquele que é considerado um santuário mundial de águas abertas, confirmada está a presença dos holandeses Ferry Weertman e Sharon van Rouwendaal, campeões olímpicos no Rio de Janeiro, vencedores da primeira etapa da Taça do Mundo FINA/Hosa 2018 que decorreu em Doha (Qatar). Nadadores que irão estar à partida (16.00) no Parque de Albarquel, Baía do Sado, ao lado de outros grandes nomes da natação em águas abertas como os italianos Simone Ruffini (campeão do circuito mundial 2017, 6.º no Rio 2016), os italianos Mário Sanzullo, prata nos 5 km Mundial 2017, e Matteo Furlan, prata nos 25 km Mundial 2017, o húngaro Kristof Razovszky (vencedor da etapa de Setúbal 2017), e o alemão Rob Muffels, segundo em Setúbal 2017. No sector feminino, destaque para as italianas Rachelle Bruni (prata no Rio 2016 e vencedora em Setúbal 2017), e Arianna Bridi, bronze no Mundial 2017, a equatoriana Samantha Arevalo (vice-campeã mundial 2017), a brasileira Ana Marcela, campeã mundial dos 25 km e terceira nos 10 km em 2017, a chinesa Xim Xin campeã em Setúbal 2016, a norte americana Haley Anderson, prata nos Jogos de Londres 2012. Ferry Rachelle Marcela Sharon WEERTMAN BRUNI CUNHA VAN ROUWENDAAL (NED) (ITA) (BRA) (NED) Portugal estará representado com os campeões nacionais 2018: Angélica André (Fluvial), campeã dos 5 e 10 km, Rafael Gil (Individual ANL) campeão dos 10 km, Tiago Campos (CN Rio Maior) campeão dos 5 km e vice-campeão dos 10 km, José Paula Carvalho (SFUAP-Piedense) vice-campeão nacional dos 5 km. A equipa nacional terá em Setúbal um momento de avaliação para o Europeu absoluto de Glasgow (Escócia), de 8 a 12 de agosto e para Campeonato da Europa de Juniores Malta 13 a 15 julho. Aquela que é considerada uma das mais duras competições do circuito mundial de águas abertas - prova que foi apuramento olímpico para Londres 2012 e Rio 2016 -, é aguardada com muita expectativa pela comunidade da natação internacional. Recorde-se que a FINA introduziu novas regras para a utilização de fatos em 2017. Com a temperatura a baixo dos 18ºC será obrigatório o uso de fato isotérmico. Quando a água do circuito de competição apresente temperaturas entre os 18 graus e os 19,9 graus será opcional. Sendo que, a cima dos 20 graus de temperatura da água é proibida a utilização de fatos isotérmicos. A etapa de Setúbal da Taça do Mundo Fina Hosa 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup integra mais uma vez a FINA Marathon Swim World Series 2018, a par de Doha (Quatar, 17 de março), Seychelles (20 de maio), Balatonfuren (Hungria, 16 de junho), Lac Megantic (Canadá, 11 de agosto), Chun’na (China, 16 de setembro), Taiwan (Taipé, 22 de setembro), Abu Dhabi (UAE, 24 de novembro). https://www.fina.org/event/fina-marathon-swim-world-series-2018 Open Challenge FINA Marathon Swimming World Series - Setúbal 2018 A FINA Marathon Swimming World Series - Setúbal 2018 (Taça do Mundo de Águas Abertas FINA) decorre a 9 de junho (16.00 no Parque de Albarquel, Estuário do Sado, com organização da Federação Portuguesa de Natação e da Câmara Municipal de Setúbal. Antes desta competição internacional, decorre um conjunto de provas Open Challenge, a partir das 9.30, de promoção, aberta a todos os nadadores. Esta prova será disputada no mesmo local e ao longo do mesmo percurso da competição internacional, numa distância de aproximadamente 1660m, equivalente a 1 volta ao circuito dos 10km da prova principal. Com o objetivo de proporcionar uma experiencia desportiva de excelência, possibilitando aos interessados o privilégio de nadar num dos grandes palcos da modalidade a nível mundial nos últimos 10 anos. A prova aberta Open Challenge FINA Marathon Swimming World Series - Setúbal 2018, que integra o circuito nacional de águas abertas, decorre às 9.30 horas de sábado dia 9 de junho. Esta prova é constituída por três distâncias: 200 metros (09.30), 600 metros (10.00) e 1660m (11.00). Serão disputadas no mesmo local da competição internacional com o objetivo de proporcionar uma experiência desportiva de excelência, possibilitando aos interessados o privilégio de nadar num dos grandes palcos da modalidade a nível mundial nos últimos 11 anos considerado o “santuário” das Águas Abertas em Portugal. As provas do OPEN CHALLENGE são abertas a todos os interessados. A prova de elite masculina a começa às 16.00 horas e a elite feminina 10 minutos depois. Setúbal “santuário” das Águas Abertas em Portugal A cidade de Setúbal acolhe desde 2006 uma etapa da Taça do Mundo de Aguas Abertas da FINA, tendo também realizado já duas Qualificações Olímpicas da disciplina. É, portanto, considerada o “santuário” das Águas Abertas em Portugal, local onde podemos encontrar excelentes condições para a sua prática, com águas cristalinas e desafiantes. Numa das mais belas baías do mundo, todo o enquadramento do estuário do Sado com as suas praias protegidas pela Serra da Arrábida convida à prática de atividades ao ar livre e de contato com a natureza. A gastronomia da cidade é um dos pontos fortes do seu turismo, sempre associado às artes marítimas e piscatórias com tradições centenárias e uma rica descendência cultural. No ano de 2016 Setúbal foi Capital Europeia do Desporto, acolhendo a Qualificação Olímpica Rio 2016 para a prova das Águas Abertas, reforçando a qualidade do evento realizado em parceria com a Federação Portuguesa de Natação.     Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Marathon Swimming Qualification Dear Federation, We would like to kindly inform you that 25 male and 25 female athletes can start at the Marathon Swimming Event of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The maximum quota per NOC per gender is two (2). The quota place is allocated to the athlete(s) by name. All athletes must comply with the provisions of the Olympic Charter currently in force, including but not limited to, Rule 41 (Nationality of Competitors) and Rule 43 (World Anti-Doping Code and the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions). Only those athletes who comply with the Olympic Charter may participate in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.     Ferry Weertman is geboren op 27 juni 1992 in Naarden. Al van baby af aan heeft Ferry gezwommen. Spelenderwijs rolde hij in het wedstrijd-zwemmen bij De Otters-Het Gooi in Bussum. Later heeft Ferry ook nog bij DWK getraind, waarna hij door kon groeien naar eerst het regionale en vervolgens naar het nationale team in Eindhoven. In 2011 won hij bij de EJK open water in Navia, Spanje, een bronzen medaille. Hierna besloot hij om zich op het internationale open water zwemmen te richten. In het eindklassement van de LEN-cup werd hij (gedeeld) 1e. Bij de EK in Italië behaalde hij een mooie 6e plaats, slecht 9 sec achter de nummer 1. Ook in de World Cup wedstrijden kwam hij goed mee met een 5e plaats in het eindklassement. In 2013 ging Ferry trainen in het nationale team, werd hij 6e op het WK en kreeg hij een A-status van NOC/NSF. Hij sloot het seizoen mooi af met een Nederlands record op de 400 m vrije slag (korte baan) en deelname aan het EK korte baan in Herning, Denemarken op de 400 m en 1500 m vrije slag. In 2014 wordt het EK open water en EK lange baan in Berlijn gehouden. In de aanloop daar naartoe behaalde Ferry de 1e plaats in de Grand Prix 15 km in Mexico, en de 6e plaats bij de Worldcup wedstrijd over 10 km aldaar. Ook tijdens de Swimcup, tevens NK, zwom hij prima tijden. In Frankrijk werd Ferry kampioen op de 5 km en de 10 km bij de Open Franse Kampioenschappen.
