Jack the lad .... " In early October last year, I was found in a dark and horrible car park all on my own with a badly infected eye. I was only about 2 months old and still very small. Luckily I was rescued and taken to the KAR office in Karakum. Although I enjoyed the company of the team at Gladrags they felt I needed to be in a home environment, to try and help with the treatment of my eye and hopeful full recovery, so they called a lady called Yasmin to see if she could foster me until a furever home could be found. I was even made famous in Cyprus Scene e-newspaper on 9-15th October 2020, not looking my best in the photo though. After being with my Foster Mum for a while I felt that I had made a good impression and I so wanted to stay there – I knew I was cute and knew that if I was very good that Yasmin would realise it too! I was so lucky, as my foster home did turn into my furever home. My new Mum told KAR that I could stay with her furry family and it has been an adventure ever since. My eye was too infected to save but it couldn’t be removed as I was too young so I stayed indoors until I was big enough to have the operation. Yasmin has a girl who is also small called Chana, and for several months Chana stayed inside with me to be my auntie. She played with me and kept me company until I was old enough to have my big operation. Mind you, I think by that time she was a little fed up with me jumping all over her as by now I had grown as big as her. At the beginning of January this year I finally had my big operation – castration and eye removed. To be honest I had got used to not having the eye but losing the other bits, well that was a little disconcerting! Not quite sure where they went, but definitely not there now! Chana had to go back outside whilst I was recovering from my operation so that I didn’t get too excited and damage the eye area. My first night was a little traumatic as I had to be rushed back to the clinic just after we got home because my eye socket started bleeding again. Thankfully the team at Garfields managed to stop the bleed and said I needed to be calm to help my blood pressure come down. So that night my Mum decided to sleep on the floor with me to keep me company – I was able to snuggle up and felt so safe. She did this for the next 3 nights until I became more confident and started jumping on her to play in the middle of the night. For some reason she decided it was time for her to go back to her own bed, no idea why. A fortnight after my big operation, Mum decided it was time to meet some of the gang so for a few weeks she would put me with Ben and Jerry, two lovely ginger/white boys, in the patio room. I could see out into the garden from here and was a little surprised to see there are so many other furry members of the family! During the day I would be in the patio room and in the evening back in the hallway next to Mum’s bedroom. Then at last, I was taken out into the garden!! Wow it was scary, everything was so big and there were SO MANY furry people running around. Most came over to see who I was so I hissed at them to back off, but Mum told me to be nice and friendly. Gradually, after several trips into the garden I feel much more confident and now Mum leaves me to run around on my own more. I did give her a scare on the second day as I disappeared down into the ravine with my friend Ben. Mum was calling and calling, so worried something had happened to me but eventually she found me. I got a little telling off so now I come whenever she calls as I know she worries. Well that’s my story so far and I’m only just over 6 months old, so it has been an eventful life already. No doubt there will be so many more adventures to come but I am so lucky I was found in those early days and ended up in such a big family with a loving Mum. Oh, and there is another, rather large, boy here with only one eye just like me. His name is Tinker and his story is pretty similar to mine – just hope I don’t get as big as him as he’s about 10kg!! Mind you I do love my food, tee hee. Thank you so much to KAR for putting me in touch with my new Mum and furever home. A note from Mum: Jack is a super little boy. Hyperactive at times and gradually learning not to chew on everything but definitely a survivor. Having just one eye has not caused him any problems, he can spot a biscuit from the other side of the room and is interested in EVERYTHING, even watches TV. I am so glad he has had a chance to thrive and has integrated into my large family extremely well. Never be put off taking on a kitten or adult cat with disabilities, they manage exceptionally well given a chance and a loving home." Our lovely members are being very generous and along with some promised donations to come in we now hope to get all 9 puppies 3 x DHPPi vaccinations each, worming and flea and tick treatments done along with supplying puppy food for them all. Thank you all. They will go to the vets tomorrow for a check up and their veterinary care will commence.

Well here I go on the beg again. Not for myself of course but for yet another litter of 9, yes 9, puppies to provide veterinary check ups, worming, flea and tick treatment and vaccinations. Puppy food is obviously high on the agenda too. Their saddest of tale is that their Mum was sadly poisoned along with another stray and died and all the 9 puppies are now orphans. They are currently with William Sharpe. The are 7 little girls and 2 little boys and are actually 6 weeks old today as William says as he has kindly helped Mum from the start. His message is below. Hi all, a street dog came and gave birth in our garage and we have been caring for them so now we have 9 puppies 5-6 weeks old and just recently 1 street dog had been throwing up and died and now the mummy dog has done the same. Is there anywhere I can take them or anyone who could care for these puppies as they have no mum to feed off... TIA ! (I Should have mentioned before) I can’t care for these puppies at this moment in time, I have 3 kids, I live in a rented house and I’m not getting paid as I’m not working due to lockdown.
