SURGEONS Philibert Joseph Roux (1780–1854) He´le`ne Perdicoyianni-Pale´ologou Summary: Philibert Joseph Roux (1780–1854), a French surgeon, was a student and friend of Marie Xavier Franc¸ois Bichat, the father of modern pathology and histology. He was assigned as a surgeon to the Hoˆpital Beaujon (1806), the Hoˆpital de la Charite´ (1810) and to Hoˆtel-Dieu de Paris (1835), where he succeeded to Guillaume Dupuyrten, a French anatomist, as a Chief Surgeon. Roux is best known for having performed the surgical repair of a cleft palate and for having been the first surgeon to stitch a ruptured female perineum. His contribution to surgery has also included the publication of Quarante anne´es de pratique chirurgicale. Roux was awarded the grade of Chevalier of the National Order of the legion of Honor and that of Officer. He also served as a President of the Academy of Sciences. He died of a stroke on 3 March 1854. Philibert Joseph Roux was born on 26 April 1780 at Medical studies Auxerre, a commune in the Bourgogne region in north-central France. Do You Hear the People Sing?: Populist Discourse in the French Revolution by Rebecca Dudley The rallying cry of the French Revolutionaries was "Liberte! Egalite! Fraternite!" (liberty, equality, fraternity), and the French Revolution, a pivotal moment in French, European, and world history, has been consistently considered one of the first and most significant nationalist movements. Research and literature thus far on discourse in this revolution have focused on nationalism Qenkins 1990; Hayward 1991; O'Brien 1988), along with the discourses of violence and terror that led to the graphic revolu tion (Ozouf 1984; Leoussi 2001). The presence of nationalist discourse and nationalist sentiment in the French Revolution is undeniable, but there are other elements poten tially missing from the current analyses. -

They remain as Derridian monsters, evading any enclosures, with the tragedy teetering perilously close to farce. Because of this fragility of identity, and Shakespeare’s radical decision to have a black tragic protagonist, Othello has attracted subsequent dramatists caught in their own identity struggles. -

Framework for Planning – Mental Health and Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment The Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) is the state program office within the Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) responsible for managing and delivering the services and supports necessary to improve the quality of life for citizens with mental illness and addictive disorders. The agency oversees contractors in the provision of specialized behavioral health services provided in both hospital and community-based treatment settings for both Medicaid and non-Medicaid eligible populations. OBH was created by Act 384 of the 2009 Legislative Session which directed the consolidation of the offices of addictive disorders and mental health into the Office of Behavioral Health effective July 1, 2010 in order to streamline services and better address the needs of people with co-occurring mental illness and addictive disorders. The Department’s work in implementing Act 384 was guided by stakeholders and leaders in the behavioral health field from across Louisiana who participated in the Office of Behavioral Health Implementation Advisory Committee. The mission of OBH is to lead the effort to build and provide a comprehensive, integrated, person-centered system of prevention and treatment services that promote recovery and resilience for all citizens of Louisiana. OBH assures public behavioral health services are accessible, have a positive impact, are culturally and clinically competent and are delivered in partnership with all stakeholders. The OBH FY 2014 budget is $272,888,963. -

Works Cited Abstract This final degree dissertation aims to show how vital was the Second Wave Feminism in the twentieth century in terms of women’s struggle for better conditions. This period of intense fight has been the object of many literary and critical works, such as novels, collections of poetry and scholarly articles. From the huge bibliography on this topic I have chosen to focus on The Heidi Chronicles, a play written by Wendy Wasserstein (1950-2006) which reflects and engages with the main concerns raised by women in the period covering the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Thus, I argue that this text could very well illustrate the political, social and theoretical aspects developed within the Second Feminist Wave in the United States. A further reason for choosing this work has to do with the possibilities of theatre as a cultural manifestation to deal with questions that include gender relations and social themes. The theatre has always implied an interaction between characters in a literal way, and this turns it perhaps into the most straightforward genre to involve the public – the audience – or the readership. -
