Une anthropologie historique » in Sphères, n° 4, 2019, pp. 9-18. -
Constantin I. Karadja in the Collections of the Romanian Academy Library
Constantin I. Karadja in the Collections of the Romanian Academy Library 1. Introduction The title of this talk contains the names of three distinctive entities, namely : a) Constantin I. Karadja, b) the Romanian Academy Library , and c) the collections . The main emphasis of the talk will be laid upon the documents associated with the name of Constantin I. Karadja in the Library’s collections. To set the stage for describing this collection, a few data about his personality and the Library will be given first. Then a sample of several items out of Kardaja funds shall follow. More copies of documents shall be displayed in the exhibition and an almost permanent trace of the material is to be found on the website of the Library (http://www.biblacad.ro/ ). 2. C. I. Karadja Today we pay homage to an outstanding European inter-war diplomat, a great historian and a passionate bibliophile, an exquisite collector and a generous donor, Prince Constantin Jean Lars Anthony Démétrius Karadja (1889-1950). Honorific Member of the Romanian Academy (AR) since 1946, he embodies the figure of an erudite called to raise the spirit of his time and the standards of diplomacy. Of a Phanariote-Romanian and Swedish origin, after graduating the Law Faculty Inner Temple in London to become a barrister specialized in economics, conversant in 12 languages, he entered diplomacy, but kept alive his enthusiasm for culture all his life. The impressive fact is that, although hardly naturalized Romanian in 1920, after his marriage to Marcella Karadja, Constantin Karadja felt at home only in Romania. -

The present thesis aims to offer a valuable and authentic insight into the discursive construction of representations of intellectual figures in Romanian cinema from the early 1960s until the late 1980s. By taking into account the importance of the freedom of creation within a totalitarian geographical space, the main interest of this thesis is to reveal the hidden and latent meanings that stand behind cinematic representations of intellectuals during such a political regime. In this sense, as a result of uncovering the modes of representation employed in Romanian cinema under Communism, this research aims to trace -
On the Advantages of Minority Condition in the Romanian
ACTA UNIVERSITATIS SAPIENTIAE, PHILOLOGICA, 9, 1 (2017) 7–16 DOI: 10 .1515/ausp-2017-0001 On the Advantages of Minority Condition in the Romanian-Hungarian Cultural and Literary Relations Valentin TRIFESCU University of Art and Design (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) Department of Theoretical Disciplines valentintrifescu@yahoo .fr Abstract. This study analyses the way in which cultural and literary Romanian-Hungarian relations have evolved since World War I in the context of the rapport between majority and minority . Our aim is to analyze, from an interdisciplinary and diachronic perspective, the implications related to culture and identity of the process studied . We raise the problem of bilingualism and its manifestation at the level of bilateral cultural relations, in general, and literary criticism, in particular . Keywords: collective identities, literary criticism, Transylvania, minority- majority, regionalism . Paradoxically, the ones that lost may be considered winners (or the winning side) and the ones that won, losers . This is the formula that summarizes the rapport between the advantages and disadvantages of the historical events of the twentieth century, especially the two World Wars, on the cultural and literary Romanian-Hungarian relations, in general, and the Transylvanian case, in particular . Certainly, our approach is diachronic . We took no interest in the exceptions, gaps or breaks, but in the developments of the cultural phenomenon, its metamorphoses and possibilities to endure through time . With much visionary spirit, in a Transylvanian-Hungarian society going through collective identitarian depression of identity caused by the passage of Transylvania under the administration of Romanian authorities in Bucharest (Olcar 2011, 10), the reformed priest and publicist Dezső László (1904–1973) optimistically described the cultural advantages of minority life . -

Moral Values and Faith
MORAL VALUES AND FAITH VASILE MACOVICIUC [email protected] Abstract: Values – particulary the moral ones – may be interpreted as the hypostasis of the cultural sacred, inasmuch as their are experienced and understood as absolutely existing as an object of an unconditioned commitment. The author takes as significant the distinction between the belief in values and the belief in norms. Keywords: value, norm, belief, conviction, moral. At a brief, moral experience is presented as a double aspect: on the one hand, customs, practices, rules of conduct, collective action schemes, or in short, morals, and they expect from the behavior specified horizon, institutionalized patterns, symbols and types of human response, correcting - through re-signifying or prohibitions - predispositions, instincts, tendencies, appetites, on the other hand, the moral conscience by which he proposed himself as the object of reflection and appreciation, their self-modeling interiority and regulations, relationships with others, the path of life, dowry is to overcome psychological and integrated into a value order, so that it affects intentions which are spiritualized, intellect and open new registers of meaning which encapsulates the nature of the primary bio-physical, which is something qualitative or otherwise. "Values - Raymond Polin says - can be defined as sui generis entities, as endowed with a life of its own ideals. They can also be understood as axiological qualities attributed to real objects or recognized. And in one case and in the other, the values are confused, to their thinking consciousness, their significance. To evaluate the act is to express the sense of values of an act. Universe of values and actions shall be presented directly as a universe of meanings"1. -
