It’s time to start thinking about Boating Classes. We have some new additions to the Bridge and they are interested in starting new classes.

Natalie Dunbar and Valeriia Miller want to start Seamanship and Piloting, Grosse Pointe Power Squadron Tars and Tripe 2017 January so we will begin if we can get a few more to join them starting Monday, Jauary 9th , 6:30pm at GP Farms Pier Park. Cost will be $120.00 for the 2 class combo since it requires 2 new books and is a 10 week class. We are attempting to send out emails to potential members who are eligible to take this class. Think about it and give me a call at 313-744-7472. Did you know this is the phone number for any information about the Grosse Pointe Power Squadron? Please call with questions or give to anyone interested in classes.

We will be starting the America Boating Class later in February after the Cobo Boat Show when the interest is the highest. Monday, February 20th , 6:30pm at the Grosse Pointe North High School. The cost will be determined before the class starts, depending if we subsidize to generate interest. How much do you think Boating Safety is worth?

Hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas Holiday. Despite a busy work schedule, I tried to remain in the movement and enjoy the days as they unfold. It is

so easy to get caught up in our expectations and not enjoy what is happening Grosse Pointe Power Squadron Tars and Tripe 2017 January around you. So it is with the Power Squadron. As we make the last preparations for the Commanders Ball, I am trying to focus on the FUN. Not worry about the details, the responses, who is coming, and who is not. Those that come will have a great time, with a Great Band and in a Beautiful Setting. Come dance your feet off with me.

This year we need to focus on what we can do, like teaching and taking classes, doing vessel safety exams, and bring Boating Safety Information to the area. As we start a new year, we will begin to work on the Roster. Please make sure that if you have changed email address, home address, or phone numbers, that you get that information to me. With Fred Muller unable to help with the Advertising for the Roster and the Newsletter, I will need all of you to work with me to continue your past ads and look to new places of revenue. Do you run a Business that could advertise Boating Safety or work for one that may? Does your employer support your volunteer effort? I plan on talking to Associates at St. John and Ascension Health. Is there Restaurant or Bars in the area that you frequent or Business you use regularly? Please ask them to support us and our mission. I was at Charvat, the Florist, getting the Flowers arranged for the Commanders Ball and realized there was not one item about Boating Safety in his shop. He said he would be glad to put up anything we might need to advertise. Maybe we have overlooked our members as a link to getting the word out. I could use every available body to help me in this outreach.

Bill and I are counting the Days till the National Meeting in Orlando the last week in February, 2017. Then we will head out on a 10 day cruise to the Panama Canal with other Member from the United States Power Squadron. Bill is not social by nature but the Power Squadron brings out the best in him and he just loves being on the boat with other people he knows. Even though this will be our 3rd cruise in 3 years, we just love seeing new places out on the water and leaving the winter for a short period of time warms the heart and soul. Come join us for the National Meeting or on the Cruise. Come see what all the Fun is about. We promise, this is the last Cruise cause all our money will go into the New Boat.

Grosse Pointe Power Squadron As we start a new year, we will begin to work on the Roster. Please make sure that if you have changed email address, home address, or phone numbers, that you get that information to me. GPPS FUN IN THE SUN AT GOOSE BAY
