The policies and guidelines contained herein will be used to govern the responsibilities and activities of all parents and students this year. All entering Freshmen and new or transfer students enrolling during this current school year, will be required to meet graduation requirements as stated in this issue of the Handbook. All other students will be held accountable for the graduation requirements as stated in the Handbook published for the year during which they enrolled. We strive to maintain the consistency of this handbook and the policies within. We also recognize that there may be times when policies will need to be changed during the school year. The school reserves the right to change any policies within this handbook as deemed necessary during the school year. Any policy changes carry the same weight as published policy. Proper notification will be given to all concerned parties in a timely manner. Acceptance of Ideals By enrolling your child in our school, now yours, you, the Parent, are agreeing to uphold and support the ideals taught in the school and written in this Student Handbook. Those ideals stated briefly are: Christ at the center, a place to find and follow Jesus; Academics that challenge; Achievement for everyone; A safe environment for all; Balance among the spiritual, Case has presented his research at conferences around the world, Born in Loma Linda, Calif., Case received a Bachelor of Science in and given talks on gamma-ray studies of galactic black holes at NASA’s physics from Andrews in 1991. He then received a master’s in physics Jet Propulsion Laboratory and conferences in Berlin, Germany and in 1993 and a PhD in physics in 1998 from the University of California, Calcutta, India. Brown, Ph.D. Department of Education, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists ·t. 6840 Eastern Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20012 i/ .I Foreword In anticipation of the education centennial in 1972 and the publication of a Seventh-day Adventist chronology of education, the General Conference Department of Education started to make inquiries of the world field for historical facts and statistics regarding the various facets of the church program in education. The information started to come in about a year ago. Whlle some of the responses were quite detalled, there were others that were rather general and indefinite. There were gaps and omissions and in several instances conflicting statements on certain events. In view of the limited time and the apparent cessation of incoming materials from the field, a small committee was named with Doctor Walton J. Brown as chairman. It was this committee's responsibility to execute the project in spite of the lack of substantiation of certain information. We believe that this is the first project of its kind in the denomination's history. It is hoped that when the various educators and administrators re­ view the data about their own organizations, they will notify the Department of Education concerning any corrections and additions. They should please include supporting evidence from as many sources as possible. It is hoped that within the next five to ten years a revised edition may replace this first one. It would contain not only necessary changes, but also would be brought up to date.

World Patterns of Seventh-day Adventist Education is the only description of the church educational system by countries. A United Nations list of 218 countries has been used. This sixth edition of World Patterns has grouped in each country secondary and tertiary schools, and uses the official name in the language of the country, as it appears on all legal documents. (Non-English names can be traced to the SPA Yearbook by using the latter's General Index at the back of the book. Sharp's QlossaJY should be used for translating unfamiliar non-English educational terms). Curricula and credentials required for teaching in SDA schools are described as far as possible even where these are not obtainable within the SPA system in the country. This document will be updated from time to time. School entrance age is 6 unless otherwise indicated. An underlined initial means the program is government recognized. The division of the General Conference to which a country belongs is indicated in parentheses according to the code given under "Abbreviations and Symbols." Staffing of colleges and complete secondary schools can be found in the SPA Yearbook.
