An Unfolding Revelation

Adrian Watts Call Christian Ministries First Published July 2011 updated February 2013 Background

New Zealand in its earliest days of European settlement was both cursed with drunken sailors and whalers willing to swap muskets for sex; and blessed with apostolic missionaries bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Maori in particular were profoundly impacted by the gospel, whole whanau and hapu coming to Christ within a short time and sending out their own missionaries even to convert their former enemies. Unfortunately a pure river of life was later muddied by mixed motives: European greed for land, violent conflict over land ownership, political domination by Freemasons. In recent times, we have seen a number of unrighteous acts and behaviours legalised by Acts of Parliament.

• Contraception, Sterilisation, and Abortion Act 1977 • Homosexual Law Reform Act 1986 • Sale of Liquor Act 1989 • Prostitution Reform Act 2003 • Civil Union Act 2004 • The Crimes (Substituted Section 59) Amendment Bill (anti smacking legislation) 2007

Many politicians are now (February 2013) working zealously to legalise "Gay Marriage" – a flawed concept on a par with "temporary eternity". When the highest legislative authority in the land (Parliament) legalises evil, and uses coercive language (political correctness) and media manipulation to justify its actions, it brings a curse upon the nation, and especially on the city where the legislation was passed. Even "good" people with "noble" intentions acting unwisely can open the door to disaster upon a nation. King David's presumptuous numbering of his army against the advice of his commander, brought about the deaths of 70,000 men and risked destruction of his capital city Jerusalem. The National Government refused to repeal the hugely unpopular anti smacking legislation rammed through Parliament by the previous Labour Government despite a huge rejection of it in a nation-wide referendum. Now we have zealous idealists phoning Police with complaints of parents trying to get a rebellious two-year-old into a car seat by using force. Is it possible that those laying complaints have never been in that situation? It is easy for those without children to suggest impossible behaviour standards for both children and parents in difficult situations. Our politicians have voted against disciplining children but will that limit God Almighty from applying His discipline to His wayward children?

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 2 Is God obliged to keep a hedge of protection around a nation where the highest judicial authority (Courts) upholds injustice and deny God's standard of righteousness? When they needed us most, our society has failed to protect the weakest and the defenceless, as typified by this news story:

Unborn have no right to life, Court of Appeal rules The Court of Appeal has upheld a High Court judge's ruling that unborn children do not have a right to life. It also dismissed comments made by the judge about many abortions being granted "on request". Right to Life sued the Abortion Supervisory Committee (ASC) for allegedly failing to review whether certifying consultants were lawfully granting women abortions. Right to Life said many abortions were wrongfully allowed on the grounds that keeping the baby would be a "threat to the women's mental health". It said the committee should seek further information from consultants who approved abortions and ensure the law was complied with. In a landmark High Court decision in 2008, Justice Forrie Miller said there were reasons to doubt the lawfulness of many abortions. The ASC appealed against that. However, Justice Miller rejected arguments that an unborn child had a legal right to life in New Zealand. Right to Life appealed against that. The Court of Appeal upheld his ruling that the law does not recognise an unborn child's right to life. By a 2-1 majority, the court found that the ASC did not have the power to review certifying consultants' decisions as the decision was based on medical judgment alone. The majority also quashed Justice Miller's findings on the lawfulness of abortions and comments relating to abortions "on request". In 1995, the Mayor of Wellington officially declared Wellington a "Gay and Lesbian Friendly City". This, and many other similar actions, opened the door to gross darkness to flood the city. Now in 2011, there is open mockery of God's Son Jesus and the self-sacrifice He made to save people from their sins. Easter was formerly a time when a national holiday allowed the population time to reflect upon what Jesus had done by allowing Himself to be put to death upon a Roman cross in Jerusalem. A Pizza restaurant chain that delights in mocking Christianity chose Easter 2011 to market their version of the hot cross bun, a bun with a five-pointed star, commonly associated with Satanism and the occult, on it. While it was not surprising that Hell Pizza's new billboards openly mocked Jesus' death, it was amazing that the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) did not uphold any of the 179 complaints made about a Hamilton billboard. The complainants commented: "nothing short of emotional and spiritual abuse", "grossly offensive", "discriminatory and insensitive", "blasphemous". Another said Christian faith was being "slandered and ridiculed in a way that wouldn't be accepted if it were directed at other religions or minority groups." In its majority decision, not upholding the complaints, the ASA said: "...we can only conclude that the campaign was in fact within ASA guidelines as to acceptable humour and satire allowable within a tolerant and open society such as New Zealand."

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 3 The ASA had previously upheld complaints about other Hell Pizza's advertisements acknowledging that they 'did not meet a due sense of social responsibility', 'were distasteful' and 'reasonably likely to cause serious or widespread offence.' However, in this most recent case, the Advertising Standards Authority has officially tolerated the open mocking of God's Son and His death categorising it as acceptable humour and satire. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Isaiah 5:20 As a result of these, and many other similar actions, the land is now being smitten with curses. Because I have called and you have refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one heeded, and you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when panic strikes you, when panic strikes you like a storm, and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord, would have none of my counsel, and despised all of my reproof, therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their way and be sated with their own devices. For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacence of fools destroys them: but he who listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of evil. Proverbs 1:24-33 We will surely reap what we have sown. God's repeated warnings go unheeded. I fear that we are like Jonah asleep during the storm as we foolishly set our faces to journey further and further away from God's will. The storm will not be calmed until we wake up and confess that the raging of the storm is due to our disobedience. Thus says the Lord God: Disaster after disaster! Behold it comes. An end has come, the end has come; it has awakened against you. Behold it comes. Your doom has come to you, O inhabitant of the land; the time has come, the day is near, a day of tumult, and not of joyful shouting upon the mountains. Now I will soon pour out my wrath upon you, and spend my anger against you, and judge you according to your ways; and I will punish you for all your abominations. And my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity; I will punish you according to your ways, while your abominations are in your midst. Then you will know that I am the Lord, who smite. Behold the day! Behold it comes! Your doom has come, injustice has blossomed, pride has budded. Violence has grown up into a rod of wickedness; none of them shall remain, nor their abundance, nor their wealth; neither shall there be pre-eminence among them. The time has come, the day draws near." Ezekiel 7:5-10 Is this the only possible outcome? Is not God a God of mercy? Yes, He is the God of mercy but He is the God of righteousness also. Those who presume an inexhaustible supply of mercy for continued unrepentant sinning do not know the character of God. God hates sin because sin destroys us. I believe we can return to the Lord and seek His mercy in the manner prescribed below.

RETURN TO THE LORD

Yet even now, says the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the Lord, your God for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. Who knows whether he will not turn and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, a cereal offering, and a drink offering for the Lord your God? Joel 2:12-14

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 4 We can see that God calls people to repentance even at the last hour. Mercy is still on offer. Though we in New Zealand have been a stubborn and rebellious people, we can still receive that great mercy. We can fast and pray, and seek the Lord as part of a genuine repentance. And it shall come to pass that all who call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered; for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be those who escape ... Joel 2:32 Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Matthew 7:13-14 If we call upon the name of the Lord in genuine repentance, we can enter by that narrow gate as outlined in Ezekiel 18:10-17. There is a way in which the next generation can escape the judgments due to the sins of the previous generation. A humanist might want to cry: "Where is the great sin that we as a people have committed?" It might not be so much what we have done but what we have not done that brings judgement. If we neglect God's offer of mercy through His Son Jesus then we may be condemned by the fact that we did nothing! If we know that we ought to love others as we love ourselves, then what defence do we have when we consistently fail to even try to achieve that. Strive to enter by the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the householder has risen up and shut the door you will begin to stand outside and knock at the door saying, 'Lord, open up to us!' He will answer you, 'I do not know where you come from.' Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in your presence; and you taught in our street.' But he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you come from; depart from me, all you workers of iniquity!’ There you will weep and gnash your teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves thrust out.” Luke 13:24-28 Merely knowing about Jesus and His death, burial and resurrection, is not sufficient. We must make the appropriate response to God's offer of mercy and new life. Neglecting His offer of mercy is the sure way to receive His judgements.

JUDGEMENT UPON THE NATION

God is going to judge us according to the decisions we have made and the actions we have taken. God also judges nations collectively. Some Christians want to believe that the message of judgement ended with Jesus' death upon the cross. However, a look at the account of Ananias and Saphira in Acts chapter five reveals that swift and terrifying judgements are still with us. Several words of prophecy that speak of specific acts of judgement upon our nation follow. These are warnings speaking of shaking. The shaking is designed to break people out of looking merely at the material realm, at familiar things, things of comfort, convenience, selfishness and self-centredness. I felt led to distribute widely during November 1990 a specific warning for the City of Wellington. I was convinced of the need to spread it widely in the light of this scripture: Is a trumpet blown in the city, and the people are not afraid? Does evil befall a city, unless the Lord has done it. Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets. Amos 3:6-7

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 5 I had earlier been given two graphic visions of an earthquake shaking the capital city. The specific warning for Wellington that I widely distributed did not come to pass at that time. That caused some people to believe that the warning must have been incorrect. Others believed that prayer and intercession postponed the judgement from taking place at that time. The warning is reprinted here. Please test it for yourself.

FOR THE CITY OF WELLINGTON My hand shall shake the city. For some days I shall shake it. Towers shall fall. Hillsides shall slide. Walls shall crack. Much glass will break. Some persons will be killed. Many persons shall be injured. Power will be cut off for many days. Water will be cut off and become scarce before being supplied again in quantity. Be prepared for two weeks. The city will be restored quite quickly. The scars will remain for some time, upon the city-scape, upon the lives. Many will question in their hearts at that time. A shaking to further the awakening in the Churches. I tell you at this time to prepare yourselves in all ways. I am the God who sees His word come to pass.

______

I still stand by the warning that I issued in October 1990. The events described in the warning did not happen on 27 November 1990. That these sort of things may still occur I believe is a distinct probability. I affirm that I stand by the warning I gave to the City of Wellington. I see Wellington still standing in much the same way as the city of Nineveh remained for over a hundred years following the prophet Jonah's warning to them. The repentance of those in the city held back judgment for a time. In 1990, some stood as intercessors before God, praying people who asked more time for the city of Wellington. I believe their prayers were answered at that time. But where are we now? The timing of the fulfilment of prophetic words of judgment is conditional, as we can see from the Book of Jonah. Another example is the prophet Isaiah telling Judah's King Hezekiah to set his house in order as he would not recover from illness (2 Kings 20). After Isaiah left him, Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly. Isaiah returned to the King with an additional prophetic word declaring it was now the Lord's will to heal him at that time. Hezekiah was healed and died 15 years later. However, Hezekiah failed to set his house in order as Isaiah had instructed. Hezekiah's son Manasseh was 12 years old when he began to reign and he committed more abominations in the sight of the Lord than any other previous king. Manasseh was born as a result of the extended lease of life accorded to Hezekiah by the Lord. We see in this example, both the postponement of what God said would happen, and also the worse consequences of not heeding the warning that came. Are we in New Zealand guilty of asking for more time while still failing to set our house in order? Other prophetic words seem to confirm that view. The reason I am writing this is that there have been a number of subsequent warnings of a similar nature. From a variety of sources has come a growing indication that the Lord may be about to send a shaking throughout this land by way of one or more "natural disasters". The warning I issued in November 1990, I believe applies to an earthquake that will greatly affect the City of Wellington. The following warning was phoned through to me from Auckland on the night of 26 November 1990 as I was in the process of preparing for a possible earthquake. The prophetic word was received along with a vision from the Lord earlier that same evening (the 26th). General Note: Due to some of the bitter criticisms and unkind accusations made against prophetic people who dared to warn others of revelations about natural disasters in the past, most names will not be disclosed in this document unless it has been a very publicised warning. Please remember that this is primarily a call to pray and seek God for yourself. Please practise intercession instead of criticism.

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 6 AWAKE IN THE TIME OF JUDGEMENT

O men of Zion cry out! O watchmen of the city, sound the trumpet lest the people not awaken. Arouse the people. Awake people of Zion. Arouse yourselves from your slumber lest you are left when the mighty shaking is released. Call forth to the Lamb, call to heaven oh you creatures of the earth. Sleep not, slumber not. Cast yourselves upon the ground and cry out for mercy from the Lord your God. Vengeance is mine says the Lord. Those who seek Me shall not be overwhelmed. Let them cry unto Me and I shall save them. Oh how the mighty shall fall and the haughty shall crumble. Voices cry out but not to the Lord, not the Creator, not to the true God. Do they not know that it is I who made the universe, I who put the stars in their places? O men how long shall I contend with you? How long shall you turn to other gods? My right hand stands at the ready, sword in hand, eyes of fire that will consume all unrighteousness and slay the wicked while they sleep. Mortal man, can you contend with Me the Lord your God? But I am not their God – for they do not listen, they do not obey. They do not repent of their wickedness. Therefore, I shall smite them. Therefore, the city shall sink into the bay and the fishes shall devour them. Therefore, the earth shall crumble like match wood. Have I not warned them? Have I not sought them? Tremble when you hear of these things. When the arm of the Lord brings judgement upon the feeble foundations of the capital city, then weep in repentance O My people. For then and only then shall you know and believe that My right hand shall rule this nation and My kingdom shall be established in you. The nation shall mourn but upon the old shall I rebuild the new.

______

This second warning speaks of a far greater measure of devastation than the warning I issued. That God chose to speak a second time in this way suggests to me that though judgement upon Wellington was delayed to some point after 1990, it will certainly come. One prophetic intercessor commented to me in 2011 that God is calling us to prayer and intercession like never before. She said that if ever there was a time to be seeking Him it is now. She also said that when the word came through in 1990, lots of people fasted and prayed, repenting on behalf of the city. In a group she was praying with, someone had a vision of a huge angel standing at the bottom of the Ngauranga Gorge with a huge sword raised and about to lower it in judgement against the city. Intense weeping and prayer by the group was the response to that vision, and subsequently in another vision the angel was seen to lower the sword then put it away. Praise God for His mercy at that time. However, the failure of people in the city to repent for the very things that might cause God's anger, means that the judgement was merely postponed at that time, not cancelled forever. Sometime in the period after November 1990 but before August 1992 , I was given a small booklet entitled "Gifts of Prophecy, Tongues and Interpretation, and the Prophet in the Church" by James W Keane. The booklet would have been published sometime after 1971. In it, I found the following prophetic word that confirms the geographical shaking of the nation and also some of the reasons for that shaking coming. What I read confirmed to me that the shaking of Wellington City that I had seen, would come to the city (and indeed, the whole nation) in due time. It has been slightly abridged for publishing here, and some of the language has been updated for easier comprehension.

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 7 SHAKING NEW ZEALAND BY THE WORD OF THE LORD

Stand by My side this morning, those of you who have been called of God and anointed by His Holy Spirit. Stand by the side of Him Who is Almighty; the Lord God of Hosts is His Name, and there is none greater, there is none more powerful than He. For I desire that you stand this morning before the nation that you represent. For My Word is unto this nation – unto the nation that you are residents in and citizens of. For behold, by the natural eye, it is a land that is fair and lovely; it is a land with external blessings and providence and mercies bestowed bountifully from the hand of an ever-loving God. For truly there is no measure that can be employed to express the expression of Divine providence. But look this morning by the eyes of the Holy Spirit, and look through the revelation of your God. It is a nation that is like a howling wilderness. For there is deep darkness. There are caverns of carnality. There are pits of iniquity, and the life of humanity has become so polluted that although hidden by the fairness of the isle, it arises to My nostrils as that which is nauseating. For I have planted, says the Lord your God, I have caused sunshine and rain to fall, and out of the abundance of My goodness have I provided for all. I have sent My servants and given to them the anointed word of authority and expression of revelation for the days in which you live, but by utter and complete rejection of that which I have given and bestowed by many vessels and Divine manifestations, the very isle of fairness and beauty and picturesque expression has become in My sight as a howling wilderness. But I will yet have mercy on it. In judgement, I will still remember mercy. In My wrath I still will declare My grace. But know this for sure, that I will visit this nation with My judgement and I will cause her to know that in despising the revelation of providence and the glories of redemption, she has made herself ripe to receive the expression of Divine indignation. Nevertheless, do I stand this morning at the very top of the valley and I will send My Word throughout the land, I will cause My Word prophetic, I will cause My Word anointed, I will cause My Word creative, to run right through the valley, and some will hear, and you will hear a shaking, a shaking, yes a shaking. I declare to you prophetically this morning, that in the manifestation of My judgement I will shake this nation geographically. I will shake it because of rejection, because of the despising, because of the laying aside of the anointed Word and the revelation of My eternal Headship. But alongside that will I remember the true principles of love and mercy and grace and I will shake the lives of others to see in the darkness of the valley, the King in all His beauty. For it is to be a time of shaking, My people, a time of shaking. For there must of necessity be a shaking of judgement that there may be a final unity. For I will shake without, and I will shake within, but blessed are they who are shaken. Many things that have claimed a part of your life and have become corroded along the manner and walk of your life must be shaken off. There are things that demand the Blood; there are things that demand the Fire; there are things that demand the Purging.

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 8 But there are things that can only be dealt with by a definite experience and manifestation of shaking, and I will shake, I will shake, that certain things may be taken from you, that I may be in the midst of you as My people, the all glorious Lord. For I am the Lord your God. There is none other beside Me, and even in the howling wilderness I discovered you, and brought you by ways that were complicated and confusing as far as you were concerned but I brought you to Myself. I will still bring you to Myself. I will yet bring you to Myself, but the work I do in this day is special, and must be speedy to bring you and all of you to Myself. I will shake orthodoxy from the top of the islands to the bottom and I will shake out the salt of the earth that I may gather them to Myself. I will shake all the fellowships that have entered into the blessing of My Spirit from top to bottom of the islands, for many things must be shaken out. Know too that I will walk in majesty; I will walk in dominion; I will walk in absolute authority and I will gather unto Myself all that are born of My Spirit, and gather to Myself a people that will be gloriously one. For the shaking without shall become so terrifying that you will be glad to keep yourselves in the shaking within. O My people, because you have not hearkened to My Word in years past, I am going to shake you; because you refused to apply the principles then operating, I will shake you. So stand with Me at the head of the valley this day and hearken now to the voice of God, for I have in mystery allowed My voice to run through the valley, and I am going to follow that word by My Spirit and you will behold, you will hear, you will see. This is a word unto the nation: this is a word unto all My people. This is a word unto every denomination. It is a word whereby, because of the end and the closing of the dispensation, it demands rapid haste and development. Look into the valley and behold: look into the valley and hear; look into the valley and see – darkness, death, depravity. But let your hearts draw near to Me; allow My Spirit to overshadow you; allow your lives to be held by My powerful hand, and you will prove that none of you shall escape the shaking, but in shaking you I will hold you as well in the security of My grip and a gathering there shall truly be. For the anointed word of the Lord will run and have free course; for the anointed word will go to the ends of the island; the anointed word will destroy and save, will scatter and will reveal, and ultimately your eyes will behold One Shepherd, one fold, one security, one eternal unfolding of purpose, one plan of manifestation, and then you will find the secret of satisfaction that you crave after. This word I have spoken is not a word like the words you are accustomed to. It is not a word of edification and comfort but it is the prediction of what I am doing and am going to do, and how I will deal, says the Lord your God.

At a Dawn Ceremony held at Waitangi, on Waitangi Day Sunday 6 February 2011, Kerei Tia Toa (a Maori elder/kaumatua and Anglican minister, also known as Gray Theodore) brought this prophetic word:

Wellington Shaking

We know when we hear the news broadcast or televised on TV, they say here is the news. It is often good news and bad news, and so with the word of the Lord it is good news and bad news. I wish I didn’t have to say this, what I have to say. I’ve seen the destruction of Wellington, 38 years ago. A terrible earthquake is going to hit Wellington. The Lord has shown me the harbour water going out and coming back as a tsunami. I’ve seen the Lord ride the waters out and bring it back. The waves started to seethe from Kaiapoi to Kaikoura, the south east of the South Island it started to move up. It got to Wellington and part of it went on to the North Island towards Wanganui and Taranaki. I’ve seen body bags lying in the streets of Wellington. I’ve seen the army called into Wellington. I’ve seen houses on the hills of Wellington, some of them disappeared. Last of all I want you to know this, and you can judge me for what it is worth. I have seen the roof of the Beehive lying in the debris of the streets of Wellington. No time was given in terms of years, and I’ve waited 38 years to say this. The only indication given was the month of June.

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 10 The Hand of God and the Command to Repent – Adrian Watts

While praying in a Tuesday night prayer meeting in September, 1993, saw the following vision in clear detail.

It was of the finger of God writing in huge letters over the City of Wellington the single word, "Repent". The vision was seen from the perspective of looking down upon Wellington City. The focus was on the city centre itself. The area in view began at Thorndon and extended to the central business district, the wharves, Oriental Bay, but not out to the outlying suburbs. No sooner had I begun to perceive this vision, than I saw the shape of a right hand appear above the Queens Wharf area (near to where the Westpac Trust Stadium now is) that had the index finger extended to the West. The hand began to move and the point of the index finger began to trace the outline of a word. Wherever the point of the finger moved, a large cloud formation developed. Each large cloud formation was a letter. The letters in bold three-dimensional form clearly spelt out the one word "REPENT" in capitals. Each letter was approximately 100 metres high. Though in the form of clouds, it remained static over the city until the whole vision was taken away. It is hard to describe the sense of awe this evoked or the emphasis and impact this one word must have for our city at this time. I was at first astonished by what I saw. Later I described what I had seen to the others present at the prayer meeting but I did not understand all that it might mean at that time.

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 11 Remembering Tangiwai and other Disasters – Adrian Watts

I think of the message on page 10 from Kerei Tia Toa as the "Waitangi Day Warning." Waitangi is a compound word consisting of the same two Maori words as Tangiwai. Together the two words carry the meeting of "weeping waters." Tangi is also the term for "funeral." So we can see that it conveys more than picture of a stream flowing by, it can signify a lament that comes from a deep grieving that stems from a tragic loss. When I visited the Tangiwai Disaster Memorial site in 2009, I got a very strong sense that tragedies that stunned the nation as that one did, would be seen again in our day. I got the strong sense that through such tragedies, the Holy Fear of God would come to the people of our nation. It is for this reason that I will later cover some of the details from the story of the tragic events at Tangiwai. While not wishing to provoke more sadness for those who relatives or ancestors who died in any of the disasters referred to, I nonetheless need to examine some of the spiritual lessons we might learn from them. Tangiwai is currently the fifth-worst disaster in New Zealand history. Four other notable disasters had a higher death toll. Those other disasters were: the 189 people lost in the shipwreck of the HMS Orpheus in 1863; the 1931 Napier earthquake that killed 258 people; the crash of Air New Zealand flight TE901 into Mount Erebus, Antarctica that took 257 lives in 1979; and the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake that resulted in 185 deaths. The Erebus disaster, along with the recent series of devastating Christchurch earthquakes, was a sign to the nation. If people had responded to the signs rightly it should have brought about some form of national repentance and self humbling (see2 Chronicles 7:13-14). In 2008, an Air New Zealand Airbus A320 crashed in the Mediterranean while on a test flight killing all the crew (there were no passengers on board). That tragedy occurred on the 29th anniversary of the airline's Antarctic disaster on Mount Erebus. Both Erebus and Orpheus are figures from Greek literature. Orpheus made an unsuccessful journey to the place of the dead to rescue his wife. In Greek, Erebus means "deep darkness, shadow." In Greek literature, the name Erebus refers to a region of the "Underworld" that the dead had to pass through. Are there some spiritual implications to this? Was some gateway opened up to death and Hell by any significant event in New Zealand in the 1970s? Well, was it merely a coincidence that this tragedy followed only two years after the introduction of the Contraception, Sterilisation, and Abortion Act in 1977? Some measure of controversy still surrounds all the factors contributing to the Erebus disaster. However, it does appear that some measure of pride and complacency had weakened what had previously been a very efficient and safe Air New Zealand operation. Inexplicably, some technical flight information was altered, and what was provided did not match the route the flight crew were expecting to take. This meant the flight crew were operating their aeroplane over Antarctica completely unaware they were heading for a huge snow-covered mountain. At that time, Air New Zealand had adopted the song title "Nobody does it better" as its advertising slogan. Was that a sign of pride that brings spiritual blindness? All references to "Nobody does it better" were immediately removed following the disaster in 1979. This is no reflection upon the crew or the passengers on the fateful flight, but it may be that a dangerous complacency affecting part of Air New Zealand's operation was a reflection of New Zealand's dangerous spiritual complacency at that time. When any society shows little regard for its most vulnerable children by taking the lives of the unborn, part of the hedge of God's protection around a nation can be broken. There is a law of sowing and reaping that governs the futures of nations. The flight crew over the Antarctic were unable to see the huge mountain ahead of them until almost the very last seconds.

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 12 Do we need to ask ourselves, had New Zealand begun to lose it way at that time? Did the nation start to head on a course for disaster? If we fail to heed warning signs, we may find ourselves in a situation where we cannot help but read the writing written large upon the wall (see Daniel 5). To return to the Tangiwai disaster, it occurred on Christmas Eve, 1953 and claimed 151 lives. The timing of the accident added to the sense of tragedy. Most of those on the train were heading home for Christmas, armed with presents for friends and family. Searchers later found a large number of battered, mud-soaked presents – toys and teddy bears on the banks of the Whangaehu River. Demand for the Wellington-Auckland overnight express trip was sufficient that a second express train was following the first express an hour later (fortunately no harm came to the second train). The first express that left Wellington for Auckland at 3 pm, had an engine and tender plus five second class and four first class carriages, a guards van and a postal van. As the train steamed north, no one on board was aware of what had occurred shortly after 8 pm at Mount Ruapehu's crater lake. An ash wall holding in the crater lake collapsed, creating a lahar – a fast- flowing torrent of ash, water, ice, mud, rocks and other debris. Approximately two million cubic metres of water from the crater lake were released producing a 6-metre-high wave that surged, tsunami-like, down the Whangaehu River. At 10:15 pm, the rushing, murky black, lahar struck the Tangiwai railway bridge, dislodging its concrete piers and critically weakening the structure of the bridge. It was this that would cause the massive train wreck. The photograph on the right shows the furious waters of a lahar from Mount Ruapehu's crater lake that swept over the area where the Tangiwai memorial is located, in 2007. The structure seen near the bottom of the photo is the shelter over a number of pictorial information boards about the 1953 tragedy. This recent photograph might give some slight idea of the forces involved in bringing about the tragedy. The first express made good time, with its final stop before Tangiwai in Waiouru. The lahar was flowing at its peak around 10:21 pm when the overnight express reached the bridge area. Due to the isolated location and darkness of the night, the train crew did not recognise and respond to the only attempted warning they were given that the river was impassable. A Taihape postal clerk, driving north with his wife and mother-in-law to visit his parents for Christmas discovered a torrent of water racing across the nearby road bridge. He backed his truck to safety, then got out with his torch to investigate. It was then that he noticed a light approaching in the distance – at first, he thought it was a car, but then he realised it was a train and he ran to the middle of the tracks, screaming and waving his torch in a desperate bid to attract the attention of the crew aboard the engine. He didn't know what train it was or whether the bridge was out; all he knew was that there was no way the train could cross the river in its present condition. Unfortunately, the crew did not notice him. He leapt out of the way, still waving his torch and screaming at the cab as it raced past. There was no chance the driver or fireman could hear him over the din of the engine and the raging river. The overnight express surged passed him at around 65 kilometres an hour, heading towards its destruction.

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 13 When the train reached the Whangaehu River, the structurally-damaged bridge completely gave way under the weight of the train. The engine was launched into the air, almost reaching the other side of the river bank. It was followed by the first carriage. The second carriage, however, plunged directly into the lahar and took the full brunt of its power. It was torn to pieces and reduced to a twisted wreck that could not be recognised as having been a passenger carriage. Four other carriages were hurled against each other and torn to shreds by the torrent. Walls, roofs, and seats were ripped to splinters as passengers were tossed around and drowned in the torrent of water, mud, silt, and oil from the engine. Reduced to mangled lumps of metal, the carriages were scattered about the area. One was found some two and a half kilometres down river from the bridge. The leading first class carriage, teetered on the edge of what remained of the bridge before rolling into the river; the remainder of the train stayed on the tracks. Those travelling in the remaining carriages became aware of what had happened to the front of the train. The alarm was raised in surrounding towns. The search began for loved ones and other survivors. The engine driver and fireman, one first class passenger, and 148 of the 176 second class passengers who were killed. It was, at the time, one of the world’s biggest rail disasters and news of it made headlines around the world. In the midst of great tragedy there was still a notable miracle. One man from Masterton, then aged 18, was travelling second class. He was seated beside a window, a key factor in saving his life. Had he been seated anywhere else in the carriage, he would have died. Every other passenger aboard the second carriage was killed. Upon landing in the water, he was flung through the window into the lahar and swept down the river. He swallowed mouthfuls of the lahar's muddy water. His clothes were torn from him by the force of the torrent, leaving him with just his belt and shreds of his vest. He was knocked unconscious and when he came to, he found himself halfway up a tree. Sixteen months after the disaster, he married and had a son. This reminds us that hope and new life can emerge from even the darkest day. Some may pass away but others remain to carry on the generations. It is indeed appropriate that the place name Tangiwai means ‘weeping waters’ in Maori. Tears came into my eyes putting together this account. I wanted to include it because it brings home to us the very real nature of such tragedies – they are not merely interesting items that make it to the television

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 14 news bulletin. We need to be ready to help others in the midst of such tragedies. We can help by providing much needed food, clothing and shelter. We can comfort those who have lost loved ones. We can minister sensitively to bring healing to those who have suffered shock and trauma. Just one final comment on the actual events of the tragedy. The only slim hope of preventing the disaster for all those on board the train was for the crew to heed the warning of one man shining a small torch in the blackness of the night, and raising a desperate shout amid the din of the engine and the raging river. I can't help but think to myself, "What if Kerei Tia Toa is like that single man trying to shine his light and raise his voice to warn a nation of impending disaster?" Will he be heeded anymore than the Taihape postal clerk was on that tragic night in 1953? Please can we all take the prophetic warnings in this, and the other warning booklets I have put out, seriously. There may be little other warning before sudden crisis hits. Also in 2009, during the prayer tour I made of the region, I brought these prophetic declarations on Mt Ruapehu:

The mountain, all the high places belong to the Lord, He made them and from everlasting to everlasting He is God. Let the mountains tremble, let the hills melt at the presence of the Lord. From the high place I declare the moving of the mighty Hand of God. He is mighty and able to save. He shall do it. I lift up my voice like a trumpet and declare to my people their wrongdoing that they might turn and be saved. I blow the trumpet in Zion. I sound the alarm on the Holy Mountain. Humble yourselves under the mighty Hand of God. Swing wide you gates, be lifted up you ancient doors that the King of Glory may come in, for the King shall come in. Hear the word of the Lord you mountain, when the earth trembles and the depths open up, this shall be a sign to the nation that pride has budded, that the fullness has come, wickedness has manifested. Creation itself cries out for the revealing of the sons of God. Know the signs of the times. The earth trembles, the depths open up, creation cries out for the revelation of the sons of God that righteousness might spring up in the land and wickedness be cut off – that change would come. The word of the Lord is a fire, it is a hammer against the rock, it changes everything. In the fullness of time, all will be revealed. The Hand of the Lord will do this. Everything that can be shaken will be shaken. The works of man will pass away, but the works and word of the Lord will abide forever. Even the fine things of man will perish. His accomplishments, his buildings, his plans, his schemes will perish. In the last days, the futility of the plans of man will be revealed.

The following prophecy given in 1986, was passed on to me in June 2011.

Prophecy from “a Unity Gathering” in Christchurch in 1986

You have seen rapid change and shaking in social and industrial structures of society. Now I tell you of the physical shaking of the land, My land, and My own country. The real shaking has not yet begun. The disobedience of the people of My land forces Me to act in a manner that will leave the people of this land in no doubt that the Lord reigns and requires their obedience. Great anguish shall befall this land and its people. They have failed to follow My laws and My precepts. Disasters will soon befall this land, disasters of a physical nature that will almost be unbearable. Yet, in My mercy, the people will bear them because it is My desire that once again they will become My people, obedient to My laws and My precepts.

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 15 The degree and intensity of such disasters will be to convince My wayward people that they have truly been brought about by the Hand of God. I shall annihilate all false gods from before Me. I shall wipe them from the face of the land, however great the cost to My wayward people may be. There is no other way. For not only does the redemption of My wayward people here in New Zealand depend upon obedience to Me, but also the redemption of other nations. What shall take place shall not be one sorrow longer than is necessary to achieve My Will in, and through, My wayward people. The natural disasters I shall permit in this land will be terrible to behold. I shall shake the land with cataclysm and earthquake. From the very rubble, the people shall cry to their God for Mercy and Deliverance. I shall in due time, hear their cries. In Mercy, I shall act on their behalf. I shall not act immediately for they must be allowed time to reflect on their great waywardness even in the time of their affliction. I shall not act swiftly to deliver them from their afflictions. Their sufferings shall appease My great anger for their waywardness. When I am placated, I shall pour out My Mercy and Compassion and receive them back to Myself in a more bountiful and far more beautiful way than previously. For a time, I will lift My hand of protection from them. The people shall go their own ways. When My hand of protection is lifted, you shall see strife, violence, ever-increasing economic downturn, and the shaking that I have spoken. My wayward people have brought these things upon themselves. I shall only intervene when they repent and turn to Me again. Their repentance shall follow the disasters and their anguish and suffering. I shall cause such terrible things to happen to cause the repentance and turning. Remember that the disasters of this time are but one grain of sand on a beach compared to the disaster of lost eternal life. That is why the God of Love permits these disasters to come upon the people of My land – to save them from themselves.

______

Yes, there is a time coming, says the Lord, when your nation will go through travail and there will be much disturbance – not only in the spiritual realm but also in the natural realm. There is much disturbance that the enemy would cause upon your land and your nation. After that you shall sense that peace and that calm, because I have heard the cry of My people ... I will cause you to know that I have loved you, says the Lord, and yes it will pass very quickly, even the pain, the grief, and the sufferings that you feel, will pass very quickly and then I will cause you to prosper.

______

I will shake off the complacency of all those who do not believe that what is happening elsewhere can also happen in their own land. I have said that there will be an earthquake in the city of Wellington. There have been several with greater frequency than in past times [this word given in July 1991]. They have been of a larger measure than many that have been felt in past times. Look at these and understand that they are the forerunners to one that will be a very big one ... There will be a very large earthquake in the city of Wellington and there will also be large ones in both Auckland and Christchurch. These are to warn the people that My days of judgement are coming upon them and they cannot evade those days or hide from them ... There will be some volcanic upheaval in the upper half of the North Island. There will be an eruption of one of the better known volcanos that surround that area.

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 16 I have also received numerous confirming prophetic revelations of the Lord both of the shaking of Wellington City by earthquake and also the flooding of some areas of the city by tsunami.

This vision was seen sometime around 1995. It was viewed from the position of Mt Zion House of Prayer at 579 Hutt Road – a house on the hillside, halfway up the hill looking out across SH2 and the harbour, across to Days Bay and Eastbourne. In the vision there was seen a huge wave that went across the harbour from south to north. It was as if the harbour was a bucket that had suddenly been tipped from side to side causing the water to violently splash about in it. Part of the wave crashed upon Petone Beach and flooded most of the Petone area. Then some of the water that surged over Petone seemed to rebound and head back across the harbour to crash on the opposite shore. The water went from side to side a number of times, diminishing slightly in power before the vision ended.

This vision was seen in 1990. It was viewed from the position of looking down upon the wharf area at Taranaki Street on the south side of Wellington harbour. There was a small ship berthed at the wharf. Suddenly a wave between two or three times the height of the ship came from the north and crashed over the ship landing on the wharf. Such was the size and power of the wave it actually broke on the wharf not the ship. The wave caused the ship to turn over. The water from the wave that crashed on the wharf rushed on up Taranaki Street at high speed. It seemed to be quite deep and went inland for three or four hundred metres before losing speed and beginning to diminish. I can recall these visions with startling clarity as I type these words so many years later.

______

Extracts from other prophetic words with a similar theme are given below:

For, says the Lord, a time of great shaking shall come. Everything that can be shaken, will be shaken: in the heavens and on the earth, in the households, in the business places, in the marketplace, My hand will shake, My hand will sift and I will see those who have faith ....

When My Father shakes the foundations, the people turn to Me.

Know then and understand what the LORD is proclaiming to the City of Wellington this day – a shaking will come and the wicked will be brought low and the humble will be raised up. A new message will go forth from this place to the land of New Zealand. It shall be changed in a moment. With a sweep of the hand of the LORD it shall be changed in this nation.

The hand of the Lord shall shake, the hand of the Lord will sift, the hand of the Lord will remove the wicked, the hand of the Lord will raise up the humble. This is the hour when what you have dreaded shall come upon you. This is the word of the Lord for the City of Wellington. What has been written, what has been spoken is rapidly coming upon you. Many shall fall, many shall rise, says the Lord. Hear My cry in these days, hear My cry My children. For I will show you mercy if you respond and change your ways.

Know for certain that what the Lord has purposed, He shall do. Know for certain that what He said will come to pass. Know for certain that righteousness will again be heard in the city. Know for certain that those who do not hold to the word of God, will be swept away by the storms, the floods, the earthquakes that come. Those who hold to the word of God shall remain firm – they shall not be greatly shaken. In the time of testing, many will fall. Out of the flames of fire, holy fire, will come vessels of gold. This

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 17 has been the purpose of the Lord. His word shall come to pass swiftly with no more delay. Fulfilment, fulfilment, fulfilment – none of the Lord’s words shall fall to the ground, none shall be empty or void; all shall return with the fullness of the purpose for which they were sent forth.

For the word of the Lord is certain. The word of the Lord is established in the heavens and proclaimed upon the earth. Everything that can be shaken, shall be shaken, and that which cannot be shaken shall remain – a Kingdom fit for the Son of God. For it is time for the taking of the city, for the taking of the nation, in fields, in stadiums and homes, wherever the Spirit of the Lord leads, wherever the Spirit of the Lord enables. Many shall hear, many shall fear and put their trust in God. Certain, is the word of the Lord. Certain, is the word of the Lord.

On 8 April, 2011 a relative who lives elsewhere in New Zealand, dropped in unexpectedly to visit our family in Wellington. He began to relate a dream he had just had. In the dream, he found himself in the Rankine Brown building at Victoria University, where he had been a student many years before. In the dream, the whole building began to shake back and forth in a violent manner. He explained to the frightened people around him that the building was simply doing what it was supposed to do in an earthquake and he encouraged them to remain calm. Then the shaking stopped. However, the Kelburn hillside on which that part of the University is built began to slide downwards carrying the whole building with it. That building, many other buildings from The Terrace in Wellington, and a whole lot of houses all ended up in Wellington harbour. His dream ended with him having to swim for his life in the harbour. Listening to him describe his dream reminded me of this portion of an earlier (page 6): "Therefore the city shall sink into the bay and the fishes shall devour them. Therefore the earth shall crumble like match wood."

All revelations: visions, dreams, and words of prophecy must be taken to the Lord in prayer. We must remain dependent on Him and not seek to operate independently thinking that we have already received all the revelation we need. I am urging you to take these revelations to the Lord in prayer. In Ezekiel chapter 33, the Lord speaks of taking a man and making him a watchman. The watchman sees the sword coming upon the land and blows the trumpet. In 1990, I (Adrian Watts) believed I saw the sword coming upon the land and blew the trumpet by distributing a prophetic warning. In 1992, I still saw the sword coming upon the land and I blew the trumpet again. At that time, I did it by publishing a book called: "Blow the Trumpet in Zion!" I distributed many of the copies free of charge to church leaders and people in government. Since that time, I have continued to sound all of the warnings that I believe the Lord gave me to bring. I am still shouting the same basic warning: "Judgement is Coming!" Today, I believe that only deep heart repentance by the people of New Zealand can stop the Hand of Judgement from overturning just about everything in this nation. As it stands now, there has been no deep repentance in this land. A small remnant of intercessors has stood in the gap for a long time. Even they have become weary. Now it is with much sadness that I look for the repentance that may follow the further devastation that seems almost certain to come. Perhaps this call to repentance could yet be answered. We need to pray for our nation. We need to confess our sin and turn back to God. Let us not be deaf to the words and blind to the signs at this time. The Lord is speaking to this nation. He is watching over His word to perform it. New Zealand will fulfil its appointed destiny but there is a choice for us to make. Will we go the hard way or the harder way?

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 18 A Prophecy About Prophetic Words I send My prophets before disasters and judgements come because of sin. From the beginning of time, since sin came into the world, I have foretold of turmoil and trouble, judgements and disasters, of kingdoms and war. Even now you see sin manifest and spiritual wickedness unleashed through it.

False prophecies appeal to the flesh. They will say 'peace and prosperity' when there is no peace and prosperity. Their effect increases pride of heart and pride of life—to give either false assurance or slavery to law. True prophecy exposes sin, encourages repentance, and if accepted, leads to softening of heart and humbling of spirit. It emphasises the Kingdom of God and His reign in our hearts, and not the kingdoms of this world. It emphasises the fruit of righteousness which is peace and prosperity. It warns of sufferings, exhorts perseverance and emphasises trust in Jesus. Discern the spirit of any prophecy and its effect upon your heart. For the Lord comes in truth, humility and righteousness. I want My people to understand and be discerning in this time of great deceptions. You must utterly love the truth and be honest with what the Spirit says—or does not say! Do not believe unless and until My Spirit gives witness to any word spoken or written by another. Be encouraged and strengthened My people, for I walk closely and intimately with you. I speak quietly in truth and in love—even when I speak warnings. My people test the spirits; test the spirits to see if they are from God, from My Father. For the Spirit of prophecy is My Spirit: it is the Spirit of Jesus. Who can distinguish between the genuine and the perfect counterfeit? If you doubt something then acknowledge it. If you are not sure then wait on Me. Many times you will be required to acknowledge that you do not believe what most believe. Believe in Me and trust Me even if you cannot see what others see. In the darkness put your hand in the hand of the Light of the World and trust.

A Prophecy About Why Prophetic Warnings Come Prophetic warnings are given so that the world may know that I am He—the living and true God, and that the sin of mankind comes under My judgment. Disasters will come as I have plainly spoken in the Scriptures, and My servants reveal only parts of things foretold. They will come to pass. Some things are firmly decreed and cannot be altered or averted. Others are warnings of things to come unless there is true and widespread repentance—a turning from all wickedness and sinful ways; and believing in Me and in My sacrifice for your salvation. It will be well for you My people though you may have to bear much: you may be persecuted, you may be killed for My sake and you may have to bear famines, wars, earthquakes, lawless violence—but you, your souls, will be saved. Some of you will be kept from these things and see miracles and some will have to suffer even as I suffered. Some will lead many peoples and some will be enslaved. Do not fear, and continue steadfast in your faith and trust of Me. Be faithful witnesses of My Truth and Love. Be faithful to the end and your reward is great. But the wicked will perish and be condemned. Choose whom you will serve and do not rely on what seems right in your own eyes, for that leads to death. Many false and deceptive words are in the world which are a mixture of the flesh of men and the deceits of Satan who mixes truth with lies to bring confusion and doubt: have nothing to do with them. Warn and call men to repentance and to trust in Me— Jesus. And keep and guard your own selves lest you stumble and deny Me for I call My people to the Cross and to follow Me; and I am with you always—even to the end of the age. ______

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 19 THE HEART OF GOD IN JUDGEMENT

We may struggle with the notion of a Heavenly Father acting in judgement. John White was an Englishman who spoke at the Holiness Unto the Lord Conference held in Wellington in September 1991. He preached a message at that conference entitled “Journey to Gilgal.” In the message, John White commented that God’s ways are not our ways. In fact, His ways are so much higher than ours. From our perspective, we may look upon God's acts of judgement on sin given in a number of Biblical accounts and say, "I do not like this God, He is hard and vicious." But no, actually God is love. God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. He always acts for good. Our inability to perceive His goodness and His acting for our greater good is due to both the lowliness of our vantage point and the self-centredness of our lives. The truth is that we will surely reap what we have sown and it is only the grace and mercy of God that allows the law to be set aside. We need God’s judgements, His admonitions as individuals that we might be holy. “For without holiness no man will see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14 “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8 We collectively need His judgements, His admonitions, that we might fulfil our true calling to be salt and light for the world. Therefore as a nation, we need God’s judgements, His admonitions in order to fulfil our true destiny. John White was able, through part of his personal testimony, to present a startlingly clear picture of the Father heart of God even in the midst of His judgements upon the peoples. John married in June, 1955 and he and his new bride left for a mission to Bolivia with New Tribes Mission October 25th of the same year. They served there until 1964. All his five children were born while on the mission field. His first son, Scott, was born in Bolivia. The White family lived in a desert in Bolivia some two or three hundred kilometres from the nearest medical centre. Scott had been born club-footed. Someone kindly sent the family a metal splint for the boy which he could wear to correct the position of his feet. At one year old, Scott was trying to walk with this corrective splint on. On one particular occasion, the little boy fell over seriously injuring himself on the edge of a concrete step. The floor of his mouth was split open from an injury under his chin. Because the skin was torn apart, there was a high risk of infection. Such an infection in that area of his body could have quickly found its way to the brain and the child would have died. John White was a partly trained surgeon at the time. However, he had no proper surgical instruments with him. He had to make do with what was available on the spot as there was no time to travel to the medical centre even if they could have been sure of getting suitable help there. What they had was a blunt pair of scissors, a darning needle and a pair of eyebrow tweezers to act as forceps. The darning needle was sharpened by rubbing it on the concrete footpath. Then big adults had to take the little boy and hold each of his limbs down. The boy’s head had to be tilted back while his father came to him and inflicted terrible pain upon him. Blunt scissors were used to cut away flesh and the darning needle had to be pushed through skin so that the wound might be sewn closed. Whilst doing this all the adults were trying to make soothing noises and reassure the little one that it was going to be all right. John White, of course, was unable at the time to satisfactorily explain to his small child Scott why this incredibly painful act had to be carried out. The one-year-old only feels the pain and reacts in terror. He can not be made aware that this painful procedure will ultimately save him from destruction. What Scott and the rest of his family went through in this ordeal provides a very real picture of what

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 20 it is like for our Heavenly Father, The Creator, having to inflict severe but temporary pain upon part of His creation in order that the greater part of His creation might be preserved. Just as unchecked infection in that little boy’s mouth could have quickly led to his death, so the unrestrained effects of sin can ultimately destroy a whole society. Sin can only bring forth death. It is better that a painful operation is performed upon part of the body, than having to have the whole body destroyed. Unlike John White described above, our Heavenly Father is able to warn His children beforehand of the full consequences of their actions. When God’s judgements come upon His people it is always because they have repeatedly ignored the warnings He has given. Are we listening to and heeding the warnings that our Heavenly Father is giving us? I hope that we might have a clearer understanding of the father heart of God through this. Perhaps we can put aside some warm and fuzzy notions of some benign old man sitting on a throne. God’s judgements are a true part of His personality as our Father.

The Prophets who preceded you and me from ancient times prophesied war, famine, and pestilence against many countries and great kingdoms. As for the prophet who prophesies peace, when the word of that prophet comes to pass, then it will be known that the Lord has truly sent the prophet. Jeremiah 28:8-9 As for you, son of man, your people who talk together about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses, say to one another, each to his brother, "Come and hear what the word is that comes forth from the Lord." And they come to you as people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear what you say but they will not do it; for with their lips they show much love, but their heart is set on their gain. And, lo, you are to them like one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays well on an instrument, for they hear what you say, but they will not do it. When this comes – and come it will! – then they will know that a prophet has been among them. Ezekiel 33:30- 33 My soul yearns for You [O Lord] in the night, yes, my spirit within me seeks You earnestly; for [only] when Your judgments are in the earth will the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God). Though favour is shown to the wicked, yet they do not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness they deal perversely and refuse to see the majesty of the Lord. Though Your hand is lifted high to strike, Lord, they do not see it. Let them see Your zeal for Your people and be ashamed; yes, let the fire reserved for Your enemies consume them. Isaiah 26:9-11 (AMP)

I want to remind everyone to seek the Lord whether the “June” referred to in the Waitangi Day warning, broadcast on TV and carried by other news media in February 2011, might refer to June 2012. This is not the time to adopt a “head in the sand” attitude to unpleasant possibilities.

Neither will it do any good to turn a “deaf ear” to the warning messages!

Unfolding Revelation of Judgement in Wellington – Adrian Watts July 2011, updated February 2013, www.trumpetcall.org.nz Page 21 Historical Earthquakes: Wellington

Wellington settlers experienced their first major earthquake in 1848, during a strong gale and heavy rain. It was followed by several aftershocks, causing severe damage in Wellington. Three people died when a wall collapsed onto them. The strength of the earthquake was measured at 7.1 on the Richter scale, and was centred in the Wairau Valley, in Marlborough. In 1855, Wellington was struck by a second major earthquake at 9:11 pm, which measured at 8.2 on the Richter scale. This was the most powerful recorded earthquake to have hit New Zealand. Caused by movement along a fault in Palliser Bay, it altered the landscape of the Wellington region and affected its subsequent urban development. Brick houses destroyed in the 1848 quake had been replaced by timber houses, but there were still some brick buildings which suffered damage in 1855. One was a two-storey hotel which collapsed, killing the owner. This was the only death in Wellington from that earthquake. The Government Offices, which housed the Wellington Provincial Government, were completely demolished. In the harbour, the water washed in and out in huge waves every twenty minutes flooding some of the houses on the beach front. The centre of the earthquake was in the south-west Wairarapa along the Wairarapa Fault, about 25 kilometres from Wellington, and was felt Large New Zealand Earthquakes as far away as Canterbury. It makes sense to undertake practical preparations for an earthquake/tsunami in Wellington even if no one had received any prophetic warnings of shakings. Whether you believe that God sends or allows such calamities to come upon cities in response to sinful rejection of His purposes or not, you will be affected hugely by any major shaking on the city. Visit the following web site and download the "Get thru" brochure: www.getthru.govt.nz Take appropriate measures to ensure survival for you, your household and your neighbours. Our Trumpet Call web site will be updated with further prophetic warnings as they come to hand: http://www.trumpetcall.org.nz/Trumpet_Call_Christian_Ministries/Warnings.html Though viewing images of the various Christchurch earthquakes can give us a general indication of what to expect, we need to think about particular dangers in our own city such as low-lying areas vulnerable to tsunami: Island Bay, Lyall Bay, Kilbirnie, Miramar, Seatoun, Eastbourne, Petone, and much of Lower Hutt. Central City dangers include: falling exterior cladding from tower blocks, awnings and overhangs, and some older buildings with a marginal classification of "dangerous" – that is not dangerous enough for them to have required demolition, but which have only been partially strengthened. Such buildings (there are around 300 of them) do not have earthquake damage resistance capabilities of fully modern buildings. If you are concerned about a building you work in, this web page has lists of buildings you can check: http://www.wellington.govt.nz/services/buildserv/earthquake/earthquake.html State Highway 1, which runs beside a fault line, would probably be badly damaged and in danger of a tsunami. Essential services, including water pipes, power, rail, road and gas supplies, would probably be wrecked at points where the fault line crosses. A tsunami generated by an earthquake in Cook Strait could sweep kilometres inland within three or four minutes, putting up to 170,000 Wellington residents at risk. There might be no time for any warnings. People should think about how to get to higher ground immediately after a strong quake. The magnitude of the big quake and tsunami in Japan could happen here. A big local quake that is so strong that you can't stand upright, indicates you need to get to higher ground or up in a building as quickly as possible. There may be no time to get to a car to drive away – just go up as quickly as possible. In Japan the quake was 200 kilometres offshore; in Wellington it could be 15 km to 20 km. The tsunami triggered by the 8.2 magnitude quake on the Wairarapa Fault in 1855 was up to five metres high when it swept over Lyall Bay and Kilbirnie into Evans Bay. A 10-metre wave struck Palliser Bay on the South Wairarapa coast. The tsunami also flooded Porirua Harbour, and hit Titahi Bay and the Kapiti Coast. Think about how flooding, fire and ongoing danger from aftershocks and falling material might affect you at work, on the road, or at home. Learn about areas that might become welfare centres after a calamity. The Westpac Trust Stadium or the Basin Reserve could become centres. There would be centres set up to receive supplies that would be flown in by helicopter or plane if the airport was undamaged. Ships could also be used if the port was still intact. Wellington City Council has enough

This could be distributed to welfare centres, similar to what was required in Christchurch, for people to replenish vital water supplies.

The three potential sources of any claimed "revelation" are God, the devil or merely human origin. We need to test revelation to see if it is from God. Satan has always tried to deceive (Matthew 24:24), so we must weigh it (1 Corinthians 14:29) and thoroughly test it (1 John 4:1), examining it and the spirit behind it. Human vessels that God uses to bring revelation are imperfect. Therefore Paul the apostle said, “Do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 The following general principles are given to help you test prophetic messages. Does the message glorify Jesus? A message may sound encouraging and Scriptural, but if it detracts from Jesus as Lord of all and points instead to any other person, it should be rejected. See John 16:13-14 and Revelation 19:10 What fruit does this message produce? It should not confuse, produce condemnation or otherwise discourage the people of God. It may admonish or be a reproof. Conviction is not the same as condemnation. Conviction leads to repentance. Condemnation offers no hope. A message may focus upon an area of failure but can also point the way to the forgiveness of God. Does the message produce freedom and life? " ...the truth shall set you free." John 8:32 "The letter kills but the spirit gives life." 2 Corinthians 3:6 Does the message agree with the letter and Spirit of Scripture? It must line up with, or be within the riverbed of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16). It ought not to claim to add to Scripture – see Revelation 22:18- 19. If it contains slander or accusation, then we must disregard it. When not specifically addressed by Scripture, we must have other tests. One sign of its veracity, is its accuracy (Deuteronomy 18:22) – it comes to pass! Suppose it does not come to pass? Our first response might be – false prophecy! Perhaps it was not. The fulfilment of prophecy can depend on our response to it – if we respond in a certain way, it will not come to pass! The Ninevites repented when warned by Jonah, and his predications did not come to pass at the time he said they would (Jonah 3:4-5). Although this caused loss of face for the prophet, the heart of God was towards the repentant Ninevites. We cannot judge prophecy by its fulfilment alone – there are other factors at work. For example, in 2004 Robert Holmes gave a prophetic word in Kitwe, Zambia about a coming mine disaster causing deaths. The local church repented and prayed earnestly for the disaster to be averted. In 2005, an explosion and flood took place in one of the mines, but there were no casualties – Robert brought an accurate word, and an appropriate response by the people averted the worst effects of the catastrophe. We are told to test the spirits to see if they are of God (1 John 4:1). We use the spiritual gift of discernment (1 Corinthians 12:10) and our own wisdom from our experience of testing (Hebrews 5:14). These two kinds of discernment – the spiritual and the natural – protect us from evil. God promises to give wisdom to all who ask (James 1:5) – we can seek God for wisdom about revelations. True revelation will never result in the loss of hope. Faith, hope and love are fundamental to our relationship with God. Prophecy may indicate hard times are coming – but should point to God’s promise in the difficulty – which leads to hope (Romans 5:3-5). Regrettably, some mixed prophecy may give false hope that can make hearts sick with waiting (Proverbs 13:12).
