October 2020 Message from the Chair Dear Colleague RTS PROGRAMME AWARDS 2021 I am delighted to be the new Chair of the RTS Programme Awards. These are one of the gold standard awards in our industry and are an important showcase of the extraordinary talent evident across all genres in British television. We have taken on board feedback from the industry following last year’s awards. Our aim, as ever, is to reflect the changing television landscape and to make sure the categories recognise the kinds of programmes and talent that make up today's schedules and the best content in Britain. Following discussions with judges and entering companies we have implemented the following changes: • Updated eligibility period: The eligibility period will now follow the calendar year. For this changeover year entries will be accepted from programmes broadcast between 1 November 2019 and 31 December 2020. Please refer to the Conditions of Entry for further details. Please be aware that in order to accommodate this change we will not be able to allow extensions to the entry deadlines. • Minimum duration: We have introduced a minimum duration of 10 minutes (with the maximum duration still 15 minutes) for all performance categories • Comedy Entertainment: We have introduced a new Comedy Entertainment category alongside the existing Entertainment category. • Allocation of entries: in the genre and writing categories we will now limit the number of entries per category by broadcaster rather than by channel. Details of the new limit can be found within the description of each category. Entries in the performance categories remain at 5 per channel.

Globalization has enabled countries such as the UK to attain multiculturalism; however, there is no investigation in relation to the advantages of multiculturalism at the film industry level. Multiculturalism is related to the Commonwealth immigration after the Second World War period. The introduction of new cultures into the UK has enabled the growth and development of successful global industries such as the British Urban Music and British Asian Film, which have prospered over time and have now become mainstream export-led industries. Why is cultural diversity significant towards the generation of competitive advantages within the British South Asian film sector? We will explore the country specific advantage of multiculturalism in the UK and their impact on creativity of screenwriters that has contributed to successful films in the industry. Introduction Multiculturalism has been defined by Libretti as a ‘careful attention to and respect for a diversity of cultural perspectives’ [1]. Berry explained the concept in terms of the maintenance of cultural heritage and the relationships sought among cultural groups as shown in the following figure [2]. Figure 1 shows that if a society enables individuals from cultural minority groups to maintain their cultural uniqueness while establishing relationships with the core cultural groups, multiculturalism is achieved.

Wordcloud of responses to a recent Congregational Survey asking which are the most important qualities expected of a new priest Page 2 The Prospects All Saints’ has spent some time learning, reflecting and praying on the theory of growth in terms of our relationships with God, with each other and with People Out There. There has been a certain amount of progress, particularly in discipleship so that a number of people have stepped forward to take up positions of responsibility with aptitude and enthusiasm. The pastoral care related to this activity is an important consideration going forward. There is great enthusiasm for continuing to develop discipleship; and we seek to grow in numbers, faith and finances with new leadership from an incoming priest-in-charge. Having spent much time and effort on developing a Welcome Garden, which should have been officially opened in May 2020, the church needs someone who can enthusiastically lead forward the detailed and widespread programme of events and projects a dedicated team has put in place. With this we hope to encourage the community into our precincts with an intention of leading them a step further into our church building and our church family. The enthusiasm and commitment shown over the past few years for the Welcome Garden Project and the keen interest in seeing it used, reveals an eagerness to reach out into the surrounding area.

In the initial part of this work, the history of Commonwealth immigration, racism and the second generation of immigrants and their assimilation to Britain are contextualized and the specifics topics of the aforementioned play are pointed out. In the following part, the actual play is analysed. The analysis focuses on the elements of the generation gap and the clash of two cultures. Then, it is mentioned how these problematic parts of the life influenced the second generation children of immigrants.

Natalie Mitchell Writer, Producer
Natalie Mitchell Writer, Producer Natalie writes for television, theatre and radio. She is currently developing projects with Red Planet Pictures and Bryncoed Productions. Her original audio drama, THE PIPER, was produced by Somethin' Else for BBC Sounds. Her play GERM FREE ADOLESCENT was on at The Bunker just before it closed down and her play THIS WOUNDED ISLAND, produced by Anything Other Theatre Company toured the south-east of England before playing at Theatre 503 at Battersea. Natalie was commissioned by the Synergy Theatre Project to write a play, TO MY YOUNGER SELF and her other recent play, WHEN THEY GO LOW was part of the 2018 Connections season at the National Theatre. She is a regular writer on EASTENDERS and has written an episode for series three of ACKLEY BRIDGE after having written on series two. In 2007, her first play CAN’T STAND ME NOW was presented as part of the Royal Court Young Writer’s Festival, which led to her representing England at the World Interplay Young Writer’s Festival. In 2010 Natalie was one of nine writers’ on the Royal Court’s ‘Supergroup’, and in 2012 she was on the final BBC Writer Academy, leading to her writing across Continuing Drama in 2013. She continues to write regularly for EASTENDERS and contributes to storylines. Natalie’s radio plays include PROUD for BBC Radio 3’s the Wire, HIDDEN HARM and afternoon play THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD, both for BBC Radio 4. Her play for young audiences CRAWLING IN THE DARK was performed at the Almeida Theatre in 2011, and more recently her play for teenagers, GERM FREE ADOLESCENT toured community venues in Kent.
