On 30 June 2007, he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Pembroke and ordained Bishop at Pembroke on 21 September 2007.

New Archbishop for Kingston: The faith community of the parish of St. Mary - St. Cecilia, Morrisburg joins the Archdiocese in expressing our deep gratitude to our Holy Father, Pope Francis, for his appointment of the Most Reverend Michael Mulhall as the Archbishop of Kingston. Archbishop Mulhall has served as Bishop of Pembroke since September of 2007. He brings to his new assignment the talents, skills, and compassion that have marked his 30 years as a priest and 12 years as a bishop. Archbishop Mulhall was born in Peterborough on February 25, 1962, one of five children of Vernon and Maureen Mulhall. He received his elementary and secondary education in Peterborough and then studied at Trent University, where he obtained his BA in 1985. He pursued theological studies in Rome at the Angelicum (STB 1988) and at the Augustinianum (STL 1991), while following the formation program at the Pontifical North American College. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Peterborough on July 21, 1989, and served as a parish priest in Huntsville until 1994, when he was appointed as an official of the Holy See in the Congregation for Oriental Churches, a position he held until 2002. He then returned to the Diocese of Peterborough, where he served as Chancellor of Spiritual Affairs and Vicar General until his appointment as Bishop of Pembroke on September 21, 2007. May God continue to bless him as he takes on his role as the Chief Shepherd of the Archdiocese of Kingston.

    November 2013 A day for Catechists “Let us ask the Lord that we may all be men and women who keep the memory of God alive in ourselves, and are able to awaken it in the hearts of others.” Pope Francis – Vatican City, Concluding Mass of the World Day of Catechists, September 30, 2013 Catechists from across the Diocese of Pembroke recently gathered to not only celebrate their faith, but to learn and share with each other the common path they have taken to bring others closer to God. “This is an event for catechists to gather that the diocese is sponsoring,” explains Jason Dedo, Director of Faith Formation and Leadership Development. “It’s more of a formation day. It’s for their own reflection; to hear about some topics that would be of consequence to them working in their ministry. It’s a day for parish catechists who are working in areas of The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, working in a Family Formation program, or working with the Sacramental Initiation process for children who are preparing to celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation or the Sacrament of Reconciliation. There’s a healthy mixture of new catechists, some who have been involved for a little bit, and some who are quite seasoned.” Throughout the day, participants had an opportunity to listen to guest speakers, including Bishop Michael Mulhall. As well, catechists had an opportunity to meet and interact with their fellow catechists from a variety of parishes. Far from being overwhelmed by this momentous occasion, tranquility prevailed for recently ordained priest, Father Peter Than Do. “On the day of my ordination, I was not feeling anxious or nervous, I was feeling at peace, seeing almost a decade of study and formation coming to fruition,” said Father Do. He was ordained into the ranks of the priesthood on June 18 at St. Columbkille Cathedral in Pembroke. Family, friends, priests, and other well-wishers from the diocese gathered in support of Father Do as the Most Reverend Michael Mulhall, Bishop of the Diocese of Pembroke, presided over the ceremony. Father Do attended St. Philip’s Seminary in Toronto where he studied philosophy. From there, he ventured to Rome to study theology for five more years. “During my first three years in Rome, I was earning my STB, a bachelor’s degree in sacred theology,” said Father Do. “It was a great privilege to be studying in Rome, the heart of the universal church. Archbishop Mulhall is the 15th Bishop and 10th Archbishop of Kingston. Journey Page 2 June 2019 Message from our new Archbishop My dear friends: It is a great joy to express my greetings to each of you in the Lord Jesus. I would like to thank those who have planned and brought to fruition this special edition of Journey to mark my installation as Archbishop on 3 May, and to recognize Archbishop O’Brien for his many years of dedicated episcopal ministry to the Church and to the Archdiocese of Kingston. The Mass of Installation celebrated at the beginning of May left lasting memories for me. The beauty of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the rich patrimony of the liturgy of the Church, and the joyful faith of the people of the Archdiocese were special signs to me of the Lord’s blessings on the Church of Kingston.
