Differences Between Women and Men Entrepreneurs When men and women start companies, do they approach the process the same way? Are there key differences? And how do those differences affect the success of the business venture? As a woman in the start-up community, I am frequently asked about women entrepreneurs. A popular question is: How are they different from men? There have been many studies of entrepreneurs and start-ups, and I’ve read a number of them. Many of them seem to me to fall short, because the researchers, not being entrepreneurs themselves, lack an in-depth understanding of the entrepreneurial mind. The result is often a lot of statistics that fail to enlighten readers about entrepreneurial behavior and motivation. So what follows are my personal opinions. They are not based on formal research, but on my own observations and interactions with other women entrepreneurs. 1. A number of movies and documentaries are intentionally released so that the political benefits can be taken. In this manuscript, the case scenarios of such movies and the film based propaganda are addressed so that the overall motive and the goals of the political parties can be identified. In this research paper, the case studies and the scenarios of assorted films and documentaries are cited so that the clear theme can be addressed with the higher degree of references and the proof of the mentioned work. This was higher than 7.2% economic growth recorded in FY2015, buoyed by improved agricultural performance and growth in consumption. Economic OVERVIEW GLOBAL ECONOMY Calendar Year 2015 (CY2015) has been challenging and difficult year for the global economy. Global growth is said to pick up after a number of weak years (global economic activity remained subdued in CY2015). Global growth, estimated at 3.1% in CY2015, is projected to improve to 3.4% in CY2016 and 3.7% in CY2017. The pick-up in global activity is projected to be more gradual, especially in the emerging markets and the developing economies. In its semi-annual World Economic Outlook, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated that the world economy is facing the threat of a synchronised slowdown and mounting risks including another bout of financial market turmoil, and a political backlash against globalisation. Worldwide, demand remained weak and the recent volatility in financial markets highlighted an uncertain international outlook, especially in China. “The emerging economies are slowing down, apart from India which is “doing pretty well”, Christine Lagarde, the chief of the International Monetary Fund stated. The pace of global GDP growth remained slow, driven by a collusion of multiple factors such as volatility and rebalancing in the Chinese economy. A drop in oil and other commodity prices, slowdown in emerging economies, and slow pick-up in major developed economies also contributed to the slow growth. -

Seeing like a Feminist: Representations of Societal Realities in Women-centric Bollywood Films Sutapa Chaudhuri, University of Calcutta, India The Asian Conference on Film & Documentary 2014 Official Conference Proceedings Abstract One of the most notable contemporary trends in Indian cinema, the genre of women oriented films seen through a feminist lens, has gained both critical acclaim and sensitive audience reception for its experimentations with form and cinematic representations of societal realities, especially women’s realities in its subject matter. The proposed paper is based on readings of such women centric, gender sensitive Bollywood films like Tarpan, Matrubhoomi or The Dirty Picture that foreground the harsh realities of life faced by women in the contemporary patriarchal Indian society, a society still plagued by evils like female foeticide/infanticide, gender imbalance, dowry deaths, child marriage, bride buying, rape, prostitution, casteism or communalism, issues that are glossed over, negated, distorted or denied representation to preserve the entertaining, escapist nature of the melodramatic, indeed addictive, panacea that the high-on-star-quotient mainstream Bollywood films, the so-called ‘masala’ movies, offer to the lay Indian masses. It would also focus on new age cinemas like Paheli or English Vinglish, that, though apparently following the mainstream conventions nevertheless deal with the different complex choices that life throws up before women, choices that force the women to break out from the stereotypical representation of women and embrace new complex choices in life. The active agency attributed to women in these films humanize the ‘fantastic’ filmi representations of women as either exemplarily good or baser than the basest—the eternal feminine, or the power hungry sex siren and present the psychosocial complexities that in reality inform the lives of real and/or reel women.
