    ‘UNDERCOVER BRIDESMAID’ CAST BIOS BROOKE BURNS (Tanya) – Brooke Burns, host of Oxygen Network’s “Hair Battle Spectacular,” was born in Dallas, TX. The middle child of three siblings, her mother encouraged her from a young age to pursue her dream, which, since kindergarten, was to become a ballerina. As a teenager, she showed great promise as a professional ballet dancer, but her career was abruptly ended at age 14 after a ski accident. She is a natural athlete and a talented swimmer, having been trained by her father, a former national champion swimmer at Southern Methodist University. Burns got into acting in 1996, when she played Peg in the TV series “Out of the Blue.” She went on to guest star in several episodes of “Ally McBeal” and then moved on to play Jessie Owens in “Baywatch.” Burns broke onto the silver screen when she acted opposite Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow in “Shallow Hal.” She also played Jan Lambert in “Single White Female 2: The Psycho” alongside Allison Lange and Todd Babcock. Burns also played Kathy Dinkle in “Pepper Dennis” and starred in “Urban Decay.” For two summer seasons in 2002 and 2003, Burns hosted the American version of the “Dog Eat Dog” game show, for which she was nominated for a Teen Choice Award. Burns starred in the ABC comedy “Miss/Guided,” opposite Chris Parnell (“Saturday Night Live”) and Judy Greer. The series was created by Caroline Williams (“The Office”), produced by Ashton Kutcher and helmed by Emmy® Award-winning director Todd Holland (“Malcolm in the Middle”). In the film, she plays Suzanne Dell, a relentless woman seeking revenge on the man who hurt her sister many years ago. “It was a really fun role to play because of Suzanne’s single-minded evilness,” says the blonde beauty. “She’s a rich, layered character who justifies incredible wrongs because of her deep love and devotion to her sister. Her desire to avenge her sister’s death blinds her to reality.” Despite this merciless role, Burns tends to focus her career — and her life — on love. She just shot the pilot for GSN’s new dating show, Where Have You Been All My Life?, which she will be hosting. The show is rumored to be a modern-day version of the popular 70’s show, The Dating Game, but she explains that the only similarity is that there is one “looker” who is interviewing three bachelors or bachelorettes. “It’s different in that we show a timeline of the date’s photos from birth to young adult life,” the host reveals. “The questions are focused on getting to know the person throughout his or her life.     2019-20 SEASON PREVIEW OF IMTA ALUMS ON THE SMALL SCREEN IMTA Press Release September 5, 2019 Each fall as a new television season begins, it is gratifying to note the IMTA alumni who add to their résumés with work on “television.” In this century, “television” is not just a “smart” TV, but any portable device or computer with internet access. Networks and cable channels produce their own line-up of original shows and films, as do streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon and Hulu, and Apple TV. YouTube and Vimeo serve as platforms for independent filmmakers and writers to release original series and films. All of these outlets provide unlimited — and ongoing — possibilities for IMTA alumni to appear on “the small screen” by making their full catalog of shows, new and old, available on-line so that they may be viewed year-round, 24-7. Below are just a few of the IMTA alumni working on network, cable or web series, appearing on returning or new series in regular or recurring roles, announced guest-starring appearances, and lead or supporting roles in TV movies and mini-series. Now she's a passionate advocate for those with spinal cord injuries. On a warm November night in Los Angeles almost 10 years ago, Brooke Burns dove into her black-bottomed backyard swimming pool just as she had so many times before. "It was my nightly routine. I didn't even think about it," Burns recalls. "But one of the pool lights was out, and I misjudged the depth and hit my head on the bottom." A quick-thinking friend who was visiting the night of the accident jumped into the pool as soon as he saw her in distress. Trained as a firefighter and paramedic, he immediately immobilized and supported her neck, keeping her afloat until the paramedics arrived. "My friend let me remain in the water and didn't put any pressure on my spinal cord, and as a result he saved both my life and my mobility," Burns says. Doctors inserted a titanium rod, two plates, and 10 screws to stabilize Burns' neck.
