St. Catholic Parish Community

“Where Earth meets Heaven” Our Mission Statement

As a welcoming community, we celebrate our life, conscious of our multi-ethnic traditions, vowing unity with Christ in our multi-cultural differences. We usher in our lives (being evangelized) and proclaim (as evangelizers) the reign of God as Priests, Prophets and Kings, and in so doing, we celebrate our discipleship in Christ Jesus. We extol “being Church” through the formation of Small Faith Communities as a way of life in being priests, prophets and kings; thus, we become economically stable and self-reliant as we give special attention and solicitude to our youth and the needy.

“They were faithful to the teaching of the apostles, the common life of sharing, the breaking of bread and the prayers.” (Acts 2:42)

THOUGHTS FROM FR. TONY St. Lorenzo Ruiz Catholic Parish Community “Where Earth meets Heaven”

Phone (909) 595-9545 Fax (909) 594-3940 ‘New Evangelization’… ‘missionary discipleships’ are familiar and popular www.saintlorenzo.org phrases these days evoking new thoughts, calls and challenges of being a follower of the Lord. It reimagines and redefines our call to discipleship. Rev. Tony P. Astudillo Pastor The Liturgy of this Sunday focuses on the theme of one ‘being sent’. A Rev. Elmer S. Empinado disciple is an apostle...a missionary...a messenger. In our readings God Associate Pastor sends messengers to his people: Ezekiel, Paul and our Lord Jesus.

However, being sent is not tantamount to acceptance, to being accepted. Ezekiel goes to his people who are ’hard faced and obstinate of hearts, OFFICE HOURS Paul speaks of having a “thorn in the flesh” —- the difficult issues, M - F 8:00am to 7:00pm weaknesses of his own and suffering as a consequence of the resistance Sat. 9:00am to 2:00pm of the community. Jesus despite of and amidst of the “mighty deeds wrought by his hands’ his own hometown, relatives and neighbors take MASS SCHEDULE offense at him. ‘He is just a carpenter and we know his relatives” “so he was able to perform any mighty deed there… Saturday Masses 8:00am We too, like Ezekiel, Paul and Jesus are sent...We are ‘missionary 5:00pm (vigil) disciples’… Like them, our being sent does not necessarily mean we are Sunday Masses accepted. We just need to listen and obey him who sends us. It is not 7:30am, 9:00am, 10:30am, about us...it is about him… ‘As the eyes of a maid are on the hands of 12:00pm, 1:30pm (Esp), her mistress, so are our eyes on the Lord, our God, till he have pity on 6:30pm us.’ Weekday Masses 7:00am and 7:00pm Holy Days of Obligation And so we pray: “Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for 7:00pm his mercy”.
