March 2007 Page 2 Dean’s Notes Your Executive Committee at Work Did you know that our chapter’s Executive Committee meets for three regularly- scheduled planning times each program year? We gathered in January, just after 2007 began, to conduct regular business and to plan future initiatives for our educational, financial, outreach, and programming goals; Dale Gilliland was our gracious host for the evening. During that meeting, your elected and appointed officers/chairs: • heard reports from all officers and committee chairs (sort of a “state of the Chapter” session); J. Thomas Taylor • initiated a plan for New Member Sponsors and Greeters for Chapter meet- Dean ings (contact Membership Director Marilyn Guyker if interested in helping); and • adopted revised Operating Procedures, in accordance with recently-revised National guidelines. Ma- jor changes include terms of office for elected officers and members at large, new designation from “chairs” to “directors”, designation of a Finance Committee, and the implementation of biennial elec- tions beginning in 2007. We are truly gifted with many talented past, present, and future leaders in the Pittsburgh Chapter. Our gratitude is extended to Craig Dobbins and the entire nominating committee for completing such an ex- tensive slate of nominees for our upcoming election. As you look over the list of such fine candidates, be sure to thank them personally for offering their gifts of time and talents which will keep our organization strong. The Chapter’s future is, indeed, in good hands!
