WHEELCHAIR LEAGUE (WCRL)

Wheelchair is a variation of Rugby league that allows athletes with disabilities to participate with able-bodied individuals, ensuring inclusion of all individuals no matter their abilities.

The NRL is committed to undertaking work at the League and club level to increase opportunities for people with a disability to participate in all aspects of the game, including supporting International Day of People with Disability events and Multi Days.

Wheelchair Rugby League encourages everyone to give the sport a go and exist to promote, expand and host League competitions domestically and internationally, ensuring competitions are available to all regardless of their abilities.

Wheelchair Rugby League run numerous tournaments in and , as well as a women’s tournament. These include; Ccmpetition, Northern competition, Western Sydney competition, Queensland competition and Women’s competition.

Wheelchair Rugby League also deliver representative programs which include; an Interstate Challenge between New South Wales and Queensland, City v Country and a National side which participated in the 2017 Wheelchair in .

2017 WHEELCHAIR RUGBY LEAGUE WORLD CUP

In 2017 the National Wheelchair Rugby League team, the Wheelaroos, represented Australia in the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in France. Eleven players were chosen to make up the squad and played games against , France, , and Wales. The Wheelaroos came home with a bronze medal and placed third in the world. RULES & CODES

The NRL’s code of conduct require all participants (players, parents, coaches, volunteers, spectators and officials) to maintain high standards of professional conduct and be respectful at all times to all people regardless of their ability.

Our policies and codes ensure that everyone is aware of their rights and responsibilities, and provide procedures to eliminate discrimination, harassment, and other forms of inappropriate behaviour.
