SONOMA STATE 10-3-1 31 13-3-2 Cal St. Stanislaus 7-6-1 22 10-6-1 With the thrilling 2-1 victory over Chico State on Friday, the Sonoma State men’s soccer team clinched the Chico St. 4-6-4 16 7-7-4 California Collegiate Athletic Association North Division crown for the sixth consecutive year. Under head Humboldt State 5-8-1 16 6-10-2 coach Marcus Ziemer, Sonoma State has won eight north division championships since the division was Cal St. Mont. Bay 4-7-3 15 5-10-3 formed in 1998. The win gives the Seawolves an automatic berth into the CCAA Tournament to be held at San Francisco St. 3-8-3 12 6-9-3 Warrior Stadium in Turlock next weekend (Nov. 6-8). B’dino 10-3-1 31 14-3-1 Two days after clinching the north division title, Sonoma State hit a brick wall of sorts, as the Seawolves Cal St. Dom. Hills 9-4-1 28 12-5-1 were outshot 25-8 by Cal State Stanislaus on Sunday. With the help of keeper Brook Johnson, Sonoma Cal Poly Pomona 7-6-1 22 9-7-1 State was able to keep the Warriors off the scoreboard until late when their 24th shot finally found the net, UC San Diego 4-7-3 15 7-7-4 Cal St. East Bay 0-14-0 0 1-17-0 giving Stanislaus the 1-0 victory. It was the second time this season Sonoma State was held to single-digit shots; the other time was against Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 20 but the Seawolves came away with * CCAA record; ^Overall record the 1-0 win over the Coyotes. Senior Weekend Six Sonoma State student-athletes -- Brook Johnson, Casey Dayton, Ben Langwith, Alan Grady, Jeff Loesche and Stuart Gallant -- will compete in their final collegiate regular season home game on Sunday when the Seawolves take on Humboldt State at 11:30 a.m. Each will be honored in a pre-game ceremony. The Battle For The West Region Crown The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) West Regional poll has the Seawolves listed at second in the west region. The No. 2 ranking in the region, close behind CCAA-foe Cal State L.A., gives the Sea- wolves a narrow possibility to host the NCAA Regional Post-Season Tournament if in fact the Seawolves flip-flop with the Golden Eagles in the regional rankings. If Sonoma State does finish the season atop the west region poll, the Seawolves will host a regional tounament for the first time since women’s soccer hosted one in 1998. The last time Sonoma State has hosted a NCAA post-season game was in 2002 when the Seawolves hosted Midwestern State in the NCAA Quarterfinal Match on 11/24/2002 in which Sonoma State won 3-0 to move onto the Final Four at Virginia Beach. The Seawolves went on to win the national championship that year. Junior Taylor Jones scored his team-leading sixth goal on Friday National Spotlight on Sonoma State to defeat Chico State, 2-1. After losing to Cal State Stanislaus on Sunday, the Sonoma State Seawolves fell to 14th in this week’s Na- tional Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) poll. In the preseason poll, the Seawolves were ranked 17th.
