All other applications are dealt with by Officers. This summary gives a brief overview of the applications granted and highlights some of these cases; particular in relation to development that may involve the creation or retention of jobs, either in construction or as part of the built development. 1.3 Between 12th July 2011 and 19th August 2011 there were 155 planning applications granted under delegated powers. This period represents approximately one twelfth of the total number of applications granted under delegated powers in a year. Applications Granted 2.1 Of the 155 granted planning applications, 63 (41%) were for householder applications, mostly for house extensions. It is worth noting the majority of extensions to houses do not require planning permission. Permission is only required generally for the larger or more obvious extensions that may have some impact on neighbours or the street scene. These 63 granted applications mean a significant number of occupiers in the City will be able to make substantial improvements to their homes. These house extensions often involve significant personal investment by the owners that will also support jobs in the local building trade. 2.2 There were 66 (43%) non-householder applications granted under delegated powers between 12th July 2011 and 19th August 2011. These included commercial development, new residential properties and public sector development. 2.3 Planning permission (11/00463/FUL) has been granted for four three bed family houses on land at 35 Willis Pearson Avenue. 2.4 Planning permission (11/00455/FUL) has been granted at 43 Broad Street, Bilston. This would bring an existing vacant unit back in to use for a training centre for young people to learn a trade. 2.5 Planning permission (11/00584/FUL) has been renewed for five houses on a derelict site at the Former George and Dragon Public House, Hall Green Street, Bilston. 2.6 Planning permission (11/00182/FUL) has been granted to convert an empty building to provide useful living accommodation at 85 Northwood Park Road. 2.7 Planning permission (11/00510/OUT) has been granted for one detached family sized dwelling adjacent to 6 Underhill Lane, Fallings Park. Page 2 of 108 2.8 Planning permission (11/00271/OUT) has been granted for a family sized dwelling on land at 38 Knights Avenue. 2.9 Planning permission (11/00153/FUL) has been granted for two family sized dwellings on land adjacent to 446 Wolverhampton Road East. These will make a valuable addition to the City’s housing stock. Conclusion 3.1 The above information briefly summarises the applications that have been granted under delegated powers in Wolverhampton over a period of approximately one month. The schedule which follows gives details of each individual application. Each application is accompanied by the name of the planning officer dealing with that case. Their contact telephone numbers are printed on the front of this report should you have any queries about a particular case.
