Based on the work practices of Australian Stockmen, the sport emulates the skills required for handling livestock on traditional cattle properties. A key part of the Isa Rodeo’s reputation for providing outstanding rodeo competition, year after year, is based on our respect and commitment to the welfare of the livestock. As with any sport, human or animal, peak performance is only achieved through proper care and good health. We believe our animals will perform their best when they are happy, healthy and in top condition.

Their vision was to put the new, remote town of Mount Isa on the map and raise funds for charity organisations in the new city. Through 62 years of whip-cracking vision and dedication, the Rodeo evolved into an event of legendary status.
Since its inception, the Isa Rodeo has directly given over $6m to charity. In addition, the event provides North West Queensland the largest fundraising platform giving important fundraising opportunities for clubs, non-profit groups, schools and community services throughout the region.

With non-profit objectives, Isa Rodeo Limited, a company limited by guarantee, presents the Mount $6 Isa Mines Rodeo. MILLION The Isa Rodeo has raised over $6 million which has been donated back to charities, health, educational, cultural and sporting groups in Mount Isa and across the North West region. We are supported by over 900 volunteers who undertake 1,200 shifts during the event.
Our volunteers represent all walks of life, all age groups (from 18 years and up), some driven by an interest in Rodeo and all with a drive to help community and the spirit of the event.
While many of our volunteers are from the local community, some travel vast distances to help out, returning annually to Mount Isa.
Thank you to everyone, the quiet achievers, who have and continue to work collectively above and beyond, behind the scenes to make the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo what it is today.
