St. Louis was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame following a 17-year career that saw him register 391 goals, 642 assists and 1,033 points in 1,134 games with the Calgary Flames, Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers from 1998- 2015. He was a six-time All-Star, won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s most valuable player (2003-04), Art Ross Trophy as the league’s top scorer (2003-04, 2012-13), Ted Lindsay Award (2003-04), Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (2009- 10, 2010-11, 2012-13) and led the Lightning to the 2004 Stanley Cup championship.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUNE 10, 2021 MacKINNON, MATTHEWS AND McDAVID VOTED HART TROPHY FINALISTS NEW YORK (June 10, 2021) – Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon, Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews and Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid are the three finalists for the 2020-21 Hart Memorial Trophy, awarded “to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team,” the National Hockey League announced today. Members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association submitted ballots for the Hart Trophy at the conclusion of the regular season, with the top three vote-getters designated as finalists. The winners of the 2021 NHL Awards presented by Bridgestone will be revealed during the Stanley Cup Semifinals and Stanley Cup Final, with exact dates, format and times to be announced. Following are the finalists for the Hart Trophy, in alphabetical order: Nathan MacKinnon, C, Colorado Avalanche MacKinnon placed fourth in the NHL with a career-high 1.35 points per game (20-45—65 in 48 GP) to propel the Avalanche’s top-ranked offense to the franchise’s third Presidents’ Trophy (also 1996-97 and 2000-01). MacKinnon finished among the League leaders in shots on goal (3rd; 206), power-play points (3rd; 25), assists (5th; 45), points (8th; 65) and power-play assists (t-10th; 17) despite missing eight of Colorado’s 56 contests. He did so on the strength of a career-best 15-game point streak from March 27 – April 28 (9-17—26), the longest by any player in 2020-21 as well as the longest by a member of the Avalanche since 2006-07 (Paul Stastny: 20 GP).

McDavid registered a League-best 105 points (33-72—105 in 56 GP) – 21 more than the next-closest player (teammate Leon Draisaitl: 31-53—84 in 56 GP) – to earn his third career Art Ross Trophy, adding to back-to-back wins 2016-17 and 2017-18. He became the ninth player in NHL history to claim the award at least three times as well as the third to achieve the feat prior to his 25th birthday, following Wayne Gretzky (5x) and Gordie Howe (3x). McDavid’s 21-point gap over the runner-up was the largest by an NHL scoring champion since 1990-91, when Gretzky (41-122—163 in 78 GP w/ LAK) finished 32 points ahead of Brett Hull (86-45—131 in 78 GP w/ STL). McDavid, who also topped the League in assists (72), power-play assists (28) and power-play points (37), factored on 57.38 percent of Edmonton’s 183 total goals (excluding the shootout) – the highest single-season percentage in NHL history, ahead of Mario Lemieux in 1988-89 (57.35% w/ PIT). He also posted a League- leading 1.88 points per game – the most by any player since 1995-96, when Lemieux averaged 2.30 (69-92—161 in 70 GP w/ PIT).

He fit seamlessly into our locker room and will be an integral part of our organization’s goal to compete for the Stanley Cup.” Hall will be available to media via Zoom today at 7 pm ET. Hall, 29, was acquired by the Bruins at the 2021 NHL trade deadline. In 16 regular season games with the Bruins, Hall recorded eight goals and six assists for 14 points. In 11 playoff games, the 6-foot-1, 206-pound forward tallied three goals and two assists for five points. In 2017-18 with the New Jersey Devils, Hall tallied 39 goals and 54 assists for 93 points, and was the recipient of the Hart Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the player judged most valuable to his team. Hall played in the playoffs for the first time in 2017-18, appearing in five games and totaling two goals and four assists for six points.
