    LESSON EXPLORING MULTIPLE PERSPECTIVES ach single moment in time is unique for each person. Each 3388E moment of your life is shaped by where you are and what you are doing. Think about a recent signifi cant event. Maybe it was the birth of a new cousin, or the death of an older relative; maybe it was a natural disaster in a far-off place. Think about what you were doing at that moment. Now think about what that moment might have been like for someone who was personally involved. Multiple perspectives allow a reader to look at a moment or event from more than one angle. From each point of view, the reader gains insight. In the following two excerpts from the same novel, you will see how an author weaves a moment together from two different perspectives. Begin by reading Billy’s perspective of the events.
