Fast, tough, eye-catchingly good looking stallions proven under Australian conditions and this year we retire the best two colts in the land under that criteria. Our new recruits are both exciting, dual Group One winners that are not only the best of their generation but also gorgeous looking types by two of the most commercially successful stallions in Australia. ‘Stand the best, by the best’ has been a motto of ours for some time and through the likes of our Champion young sires Stratum (Redoute’s Choice), Sebring (More Than Ready) & Northern Meteor (Encosta de Lago) this has proven to be a very successful formula. Shamus Award will retire the highest rated horse by the outstanding Snitzel to ever race and is the undeniable Australian Timeform Champion 3yo this season. Similarly, Zoustar is the best, most successful son of Northern Meteor and will retire his highest ever rated galloper and the season’s Australian Timeform Champion 3yo Sprinter. Shamus Award and Zoustar are quite clearly the stand out colts of their generation and will ensure the momentous wave of success the Widden stallions are currently enjoying. Champion young sire Sebring has blossomed this season with a stream of brilliant juveniles backed up by his Group I winning stars Criterion and Dissident, who was bred, foaled, raised and sold by Widden. Sebring has proven himself to be in that rare class of stallions that produce elite performers over all distances. With his oldest progeny just three year-olds, we’ve barely scratched the surface of what this stallion might achieve and he will undoubtedly establish his name alongside the legendary stallions of the past that have called Widden their home. He will finish the season as Australia’s Leading 3yo sire in addition to being the nation’s leading sire of 2yo Stakes winners. Established star Stratum continues to excel with a slew of stakes-winners including Streama, who added the Group 1 Doomben Cup & Group 1 George Main Stakes to her already impressive CV, Group 2 winners Unpretentious and Divine Calling as well as Group winning 3yo’s Va Pensiero & Enquare highlighted another successful season for the Golden Slipper winning son of Redoute’s Choice. We have enormous confidence our younger sires will have the impact expected of a Widden stallion including Star Witness and Tickets, who will have runners next season and the magnificent, Group One winning son of Fastnet Rock, Your Song whose first foals will arrive in the spring. Our stallions are priced at a level where commercial breeders can commit with confidence knowing there is a genuine opportunity for commercial success. We look forward to assisting you in reaching your goals and as always, we are extremely grateful of your ongoing support.
