An “Extra-Ordinary” Man: Tennessee State University and U.S. Olympic Women’s Track and Field Coach Edward S. “Ed” Temple (1927-2016) During the year of 2016, America and the world noted the departures of a number of inimitable figures in various fields of endeavor, from politics to arts and entertainment to sports, which embodies aspects of all the aforementioned areas. In particular, the passing of Muhammad Ali (nee Cassius Clay) on June 3 garnered worldwide attention, media coverage, and numerous tributes and reflections on the life of as the three-time heavyweight boxing champion.
