Over the next few weeks we will be aiming to consolidate our position using the familiar listings and web site. However, during 2010 we will be bringing forward some exciting new developments both in the form of our web site and a modest expansion in our range of 1/300 scale vehicles. For those wargamers who have in the past purchased their Heroics and Ros models along with their Navwar 1/300 ships, and Naismith and Roundway 15mm figures, these ranges are of course still available direct from Navwar www.navwar.co.uk as before, though they will no longer be carrying the Heroics range.

  • Procurement Politics, Technology Transfer and the Challenges of Collaborative MBT Projects in the NATO Alliance Since 1945
A Standard European Tank? Procurement Politics, Technology Transfer and the Challenges of Collaborative MBT Projects in the NATO Alliance since 1945 Mike Cubbin School of Arts and Media Salford University Submitted to the University of Salford in Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy 2019 Abstract International cooperation in weapons technology projects has long been a feature of alliance politics; and, there are many advantages to both international technology transfer and standardisation within military alliances. International collaboration between national defence industries has produced successful weapon systems from technologically advanced fighter aircraft to anti-tank missiles. Given the success of many joint defence projects, one unresolved question is why there have been no successful collaborative international main battle tank (MBT) projects since 1945. This thesis seeks to answer this question by considering four case studies of failed attempts to produce an MBT through an international collaborative tank project: first and second, the Franco-German efforts to produce a standard European tank, or Euro-Panzer (represented by two separate projects in 1957-63 and 1977- 83); third, the US-German MBT-70 project (1963-70); and, fourth, the Anglo-German Future Main Battle Tank, or KPz3 (1971-77). In order to provide an explanation of the causes of failure on four separate occasions, the analysis includes reference to other high-technology civilian and military joint projects which either succeeded,

  • GURPS WWII Classic
World War II raged from the deserts of North Africa to the jungles of the South Pacific, from the mountaintops of the Alps to the beaches of Normandy, across (and under) the high seas, and through the skies above it all. Soldiers in all of these places relied upon the machines of war: bombers, fighters, tanks, jeeps, ships, submarines, landing craft, and much more. GURPS WWII: Motor Pool has a huge variety of historically accurate vehicles from mankind’s greatest conflict. Many of the vehicles were common; others were rare or even unique. From the stodgy General Lee tank to the earliest helicopters and the wildly impractical Maus, Motor Pool has tons of new gear for every GURPS WWII player. Motor Pool also gathers in one place all the refinements to the vehicle design system that have evolved since the original corebook came out, as well as a new system to describe any WWII-era conveyance in a few simple steps. These additions include scores of new weapons to be fitted on your war machines – some historical and some products of the imagination. On top of all that, Motor Pool has advice on S how to integrate vehicles into a roleplaying T E campaign, with details on how vehicle crews V really lived and fought, from the difficulties of E supply to getting their machine moving at all. 3 Inhaltsverzeichnis 1. Vorwort 4 2. Hintergründe und Ziele der Neugestaltung 5 3. • Ground Weapon Systems Rules V1.1
Battlefront: First Echelon – Ground Weapon Systems Rules v1.1 Superior Gun Stabilisation Being able to accurately engage targets while on the move is a very powerful capability of modern tanks. Gun stabilisation has been a feature of tank design since the Sherman, but it is only since the 1970s and 80s that gun stabilisation has made tank gunnery on the move virtually as accurate as gunnery at the halt. Consequently, while most postwar tanks may have stabilised guns to some degree, only a few modern tank designs can be said to have stabilisation good enough to make a difference in game terms (e.g. Leopard 1 & 2, Challenger, Abrams and T-80). Tanks with Superior Gun Stabilisation will have ‘Stabilised’ noted on their unit card and will use the following rules: 1. If the tank fired in the Offensive Fire phase and has two actions available in the subsequent Manoeuvre Phase, it may move for one action OR may adopt Overwatch. The Offensive Fire is therefore assumed to use the first action. 2. If the tank has two available actions in its Manoeuvre Phase but did not fire in the Offensive Fire Phase, it may move for one action AND adopt overwatch. 3. Note that Overwatch can be performed as a single action in this instance, whereas it would normally take the full turn to perform. Superior Fire Control The tank commander’s ability to quickly identify targets and to communicate that targeting information to the gunner and the gunner’s ability to quickly engage those selected targets are crucial factors in modern armoured warfare.

This time of year is one of reflection; so many things to be thankful for. It is very fitting that this season of thanks begins with Veteran’s Day. I speak for the entire team here at Squadron when I say there are not enough words to thank you all who have served our great country in any capacity. Your courage and sacrifice protect the freedom we all enjoy. We are in your debt. Keeping history alive is one of the roles we embrace here at Squadron. One of the easiest ways to do that is to visit our book pages in the flyer (pp.16-19 aviation, pp. 33-35 armor, p. 37 ships and p. 24 magazines). Back in stock again is another Squadron Signal favorite – SS10225 Avenger in Action by David Doyle (seen below). Don’t miss it, along with thousands of titles we feature on Squadron.com from Casemate, Ginter, Schiffer, Kagero, Classic Warships, and much more.
