I HOPE YOU HAD A BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND BEGAN THE NEW YEAR WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS. At our Chapter of Ministers in November, I gave a “STATE OF THE REGION” report. • Art and Science: Articulating a Contemporary Dialogue Using the Perspective of the Renaissance (Relation Galileo-Cigoli Rediscovered)
Athens Journal of Humanities & Arts - Volume 4, Issue 3 – Pages 213-228 Art and Science: Articulating a Contemporary Dialogue Using the Perspective of the Renaissance (Relation Galileo-Cigoli Rediscovered) By Marcos Cesar Danhoni Neves Josie Agatha Parrilha da Silva† By two research groups, INTERART (Interaction between Art, Science and Education: Dialogues in Visual Arts) and PEFAHC (Research in Physics Teaching, Astronomy and History of Science), started five years ago, motivated by the celebration of the 400 years of the invention of the telescope, a dialogue that became permanent at undergraduate and postgraduate with our inquiries about the development of art and science from Renaissance to Contemporary. We take as a basis the relationship between Galileo Galiei (the "scientist") and Lodovico Cardiʼs Cigoli (the "Artist"). By analyzing the construction of the works "Siderius Nuncius," "Madonna Assunta" (fresco at the Paolinaʼs dome in Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome) and "Discorsi Intorno alle Macchie Solari e loro Accidenti" discovered an intercultural universe where art and science were linked in a harmonious and indissoluble way. Thus, the old nomenclature: artist and scientist should be changed to "scientist-artist" and "artist-scientist." This reflection was inaugurated with the "Paranaenseʼs Workshops of Art-Science/International Meeting on Art-Science" to provide space for interaction between art and science in dialogue with different audiences. In this trajectory we wrote several books, built blogs and created the "Brazilian Review of Art-Science," a magazine devoted to the permanent art-science dialogue. Furthermore, we initiated a more permanent and educational vision when we contribute to the creation of the Bachelorʼs Degree in Visual Arts at the State University of Maringá and introduced a discipline named "Intercultural Dialogues I and II;" and, similarly, in the Bachelorʼs Dg.

Week 1: Prophets’ Sunday - Expectation: Advent is an opportune Archbishop Speaks.... time for us to orient our aspirations and expectations as individual family members into a collective family search, where every member both supports and is supported by the other. St. Paul writes in his letter ADVENT AND FAMILY WREATH to the Romans 8:22, “We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.” Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, Paul described the advent of redemption as a common thirst of all creation. When our personal aspirations are blended to become a As we know well, the word ‘Advent’ comes from the Latin word shared family goal, we discover renewed strength and motivation in “adventus”, which means “coming”. The season of Advent is an important life. • Domenico Cresti (Passignano) and the First Artistic Representation of the Galilean Telescopic Moon

Our goal is to defend this image as a telescopic representation of the Galilean Moon, that is, a cratered Moon as presented by Galileo Galilei in his work Sidereus nuncius (1610). Passignano was a friend of the artist Lodovico Cardi (Cigoli) who corresponded with Galileo and exchanged information on telescopic observations. This relationship between the artists and Galileo reinforces the possibility that the two painters had represented cratered the moons. The research consists of bibliographical and imaginary research and, at the end, the Moon of Passignano as the first representation of a Galilean Moon inside a Church. Keywords: Galilean Moon; Domenico Cresti; Art and Science; Lodovico Cardi; Galileo Galilei. Cite This Article: Josie Agatha Parrilha da Silva, and Marcos Cesar Danhoni Neves.
