The route to Westminster Abbey was by The Mall, Admiralty Arch, south side of Trafalgar Square, Northumberland Avenue, Victoria Embankment, Bridge Street, north and west sides of Parliament Square and Broad Sanctuary to the west entrance of Westminster Abbey.

The Peers and Peeresses, in their robes, and others invited by Command of the Queen to be present at the Solemnity of Her Majesty's Coronation in Westminster Abbey, were conducted upon arrival to the places reserved for them. The doors of the Abbey were closed at 8.30 o'clock. The Great Officers of State and the Lords appointed by Her Majesty to bear the Regalia, in their robes, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, the Bishops who supported Her Majesty, and those who bore the Bible, the Chalice, and the Paten, all vested in their copes, the Archbishops wearing their mitres, and the other persons appointed to take part in Her Majesty's Procession, assembled in the Vestibule without the West Door of the Abbey.
