The Loing and S eine rivers burst their bank s and 4,000 people were evacuated from the town of Nemours. S ome areas reported the worst flooding seen in a century. The Emergency Management S ervice R isk & R ecovery activation ‘’EMS N-028 : Flood delineation and damage assessment, France’’ has been requested by the French authorities in order to map flooding, infer maximum flooding and flood w ater depths, and assess the damages of the floods occurred over the S eine R iver located upstream to P aris, and its Garentreville tributary the Loing R iver, from Fontainebleau to Montargis. N ' " 2 0 ' The estimated thematic accuracy of the land use / land cover is 94%, based on internal 1 ° 2 8 1 validation procedures and visual interpretation of recogniz able items on very high resolution ° 4 8 optical imagery. The estimated geometric accuracy of this product is 0.5 m, from native 4 positional accuracy of the back ground satellite image. Maximum flood extent and water depth information are simulated products. Therefore, their quality depends on the accuracy of the input data. S ome errors may subsist due to the presence of outliers.
