Mr. John Buccigross SportsCenter Anchor ESPN ESPN Plaza Bristol, CT 06010

Dear Mr. Buccigross:

Please consider this letter to be my application for the Stats & Information Internship at ESPN during the summer of 2015. I am currently enrolled in the Electronic Media and Communications program at Texas Tech University, and I am exhilarated by the thought of the internship at the office of the worldwide leader in sports. My university referred me to this internship and since I share a passion for hockey with you, I would love to join the team at ESPN.

My interest in working for ESPN began when I was only a few years old. I have been immersed in sports since I was a child, and nobody covers sports across the board like ESPN. I take a particular enthusiasm to statistics and the meaning of statistics. The statistical analysis unit at ESPN is a culmination of the best in the business, and an opportunity to work with those minds is absolutely enthralling. There is no doubt that ESPN is highly touted by the rest of the sports coverage networks in the world. Their emulation of ESPN’s methods, programs, and analysis is only evidence of that. I am seeking the opportunity to further the success of the network and gain valuable experience as I wrap up my college education.

I believe that I have the tools necessary to be successful in the Stats & Information Internship at ESPN. I am Vice President of the Inline Hockey Club at Texas Tech and have been voted President for the 2015-2016 academic year. Without a coach, the responsibility falls on the President and Vice President to manage the players and select the team. This year we took home the conference championship and qualified for the national tournament. Additionally, my passion for sports fuels me at my current statistics analyst job here at Fox in Lubbock. Every day I compile stats from professional sports right down to the local high schools. I would appreciate a chance to prove my abilities to ESPN.

I will call you next week to schedule an interview. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Brendan Hunton
