NO, YOU DIDN’T read the first NCAA Division II softball poll released last week incorrectly. The Javelinas, who had a 14-1 record at the time, didn’t receive a vote. Texas A&M-Commerce, which was 13-1, was No. 5 and Tarleton State with a 12-1 record was No. 8. Angelo State was No. 1 and dropped three games to unranked West Texas A&M last weekend in San Angelo and the Javelinas took two of three from Tarleton in Stephenville.

THE JAVELINA BEACH volleyball team will host a tournament this weekend on the Javelina courts and it will be like a United Nations gathering. There will be players from nine different countries on the teams: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Estonia, Germany, New Zealand, Serbia, United Kingdom and the U.S. And there will be players from 15 states and Puerto Rico: Alaska, Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Four of the six schools have programs in NCAA Division I: Houston Baptist, Louisiana-Monroe, New Mexico and San Jose State. The Javelinas are NCAA Division II and Missouri Baptist is Final Home Games NAIA. Four Javelina men’s players made their final home appearances Saturday in the Steinke Center.
