STM32 Core: Cortex-M3
The STM32 family of 32-bit Flash microcontrollers is based on the breakthrough ARM Cortex-M3 core specifically developed for embedded applications. Benefiting from the Cortex-M3 architectural enhancements the STM32 offers 1.25 Dhrystone MIPS/MHz and a current consumption as low as 36mA at a full 72 MHz CPU speed executing directly from Flash memory with all peripherals clocked. The STM32 uses the Thumb2 instruction set that offers 30% to 45% less code size than an ARM7TDMI-based MCU yet is 35% faster. Two product lines, Access and Performance, offer up to 128 K Flash memory at either 36 MHz for Access line and 72 MHz for Performance line. These 2.0V to 3.6V devices also include very fast startup time, included reset supervisor, have very low interrupt latency and single cycle multiply and hardware divide.
