Flip4Mac WMV 2.4.0.11 Release Notes

Flip4Mac WMV is a collection of QuickTime™ components that allow you to play, import and export Windows Media® ﬁles. Flip4Mac WMV can be used with most of your favorite QuickTime applications including QuickTime Player, iMovie 6 (iMovie '08 is not supported at this time) and Final Cut Pro.

System Requirements • Intel or PowerPC G4 & G5, Mac OS X 10.5 or later, including Lion • QuickTime 7.2.1 or later (for Free Player) • QuickTime Pro 7.2.1, Compressor or Episode recommended for advanced conversion options NOTE: QuickTime X does not support conversion using third-party plug-ins. For Snow Leopard users, we recommend installing QuickTime 7. Please see our compatibility chart for QuickTime Player versions and optional conversion tools.

Supported Applications In general, every QuickTime based Mac OS X application can interface with Flip4Mac WMV Components for QuickTime. Please find enclosed a list of common applications for import and export: • Final Cut Pro 5, 6 and 7 • Compressor 2 and 3 • Compressor 4 recommended for Final Cut Pro X • QuickTime 7 Pro Player • MPEG Streamclip • Episode

Upgrade After installing Flip4Mac WMV you can play Windows Media ﬁles in QuickTime Player and view Windows Media content on the Internet using Safari and other web browsers.

By upgrading Flip4Mac WMV you will be able to import Windows Media ﬁles for editing or create Windows Media ﬁles for distribution. These features are available in trial mode until you're ready to purchase an upgrade.

You can purchase an upgrade at the Flip4Mac Store or directly from the software by selecting Flip4Mac WMV in the System Preferences application.

Web Browser Support Flip4Mac WMV includes an Internet plug-in that plays Windows Media streams within Safari and other web browsers. When installed the Flip4Mac WMV plug-in replaces the plug-in provided by Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X.

While the Flip4Mac WMV plug-in provides superior playback performance, it is unable to play content that has been protected using Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM).

If you want to continue using the Microsoft supplied web browser plug-in, click "Customize" during installation and uncheck the "Web Browser Support" option.

Changes in This Release • Includes a new Flip4Mac WMV Plugin that supports Safari 4 & 5, Firefox 3 & 4, and Google Chrome 6+. This also replaces the old "webplugin", which has been removed. • This release is compatible with Mac OS X versions 10.5 (Leopard) or later.

Fixes in This Release • Fixed a problem playing ASX media that references non-existent network-based media. • Fixed a rare problem in playing movies served by HTTP servers. • Fixed a problem playing media having reference URL(s) that included spaces or other URL-encoded characters.
