O Edmodo é uma Plataforma Social Privada e Gratuita para Educação muito parecida com o Facebook, mas desenvolvida para fins educativos, ou seja, é uma rede social de aprendizagem voltada para professores, alunos e escolas com acesso gratuito. Pode-se criar salas de aula de forma fácil, segura e colaborativa, oferecendo uma plataforma em tempo real para interações, troca de ideias, compartilhamento de conteúdo, acesso a tarefas/trabalhos de casa, notas e avisos da escola.
