The Booster Club newsletter will take a break next week, but we'll have a special "Semester in Pictures" around New Year's. If you have any good pics from the fall/early winter, reply to this email with a high-resolution .jpeg file and we'll try to get them in.

As a reminder, the deadline to pick up GBS spiritwear items is this Weds., Dec 20 at the school front desk.

Girls

The Glenbrook South Titan girls' gymnastics team scored 145.53 to win the eight team Palatine Invite on Saturday, December 16. Placing for the Titans were:

Vault: 1st place Sheena Graham with 9.50, 3rd place Sydney Willits with 9.25 and 4th place Sarah Healy with 9.225

Bars: 1st Place Sheena Graham with 9.35, 2nd place Bebe Haramaras with 9.20, 3rd place Jenna Hartley with 8.925 and 4th place Kylie Kruger with 8.90

Beam: tie for 1st place Jenna Hartley with 9.35, 3rd place Bebe Haramaras with 9.25, 4th place Sheena Graham with 9.10 and tie for 5th place Sarah Healy with 9.00

Floor: tie for 2nd place Sheena Graham with 9.20, Sarah Healy 5th place with 9.155

All around: 1st place Sheena Graham with 37.15 and 2nd place Sarah Healy with 36.13

On Friday, The Titans beat Niles North last night 144.9 to 126.05.

Leading the Titans were: on vault in 1st place Sheena Graham with 9.50, on the uneven bars 1st place Sarah Healy with 9.35, on beam with 1st place Jenna Hartley with 9.40, on floor exercise 1st place Sarah Healy with 9.45 and in all around 1st place Sheena Graham with 36.85

Girls

The girls' basketball played three games this week, going 2-1 and improving its record to 9-3.

The Titans welcomed Glenbard East on Tuesday night and defeated the Rams 55-12. The Titans' smothering defense forced 38 turnovers and shut the visitors out in the first quarter. Annie Streb led the Titans with 10 points, followed by Makayla Stadler with 9, Libbie Vanderveen and Kristin Ralston with 7,Katherine Chu with 6, Lizzy Shaw with 5, Liz LaPierre with 4, Molly Sedin with 3 and Challen Flaws and Emily Castelli with a basket apiece. Stadler led the Titans with eight steals, seven in the first half.

The Titans traveled to Winnetka on Thursday, dropping a hard-fought contest to New Trier 44-33. Libbie Vanderveen led the Titans with 11, Lizzy Shaw and Kristin Ralston contributed 8, Makayla Stadler added 4 and Liz LaPierre scored 2.

The Titans played their most complete game of the year on Saturday at Conant, defeating the Cougars 55-42. Makayla Stadler was all over the court, scoring a career high 20 points. Kristin Ralston's tenacious work on the boards allowed her to add 12, Libbie Vanderveen and Lizzy Shaw fought their way into the paint continuously and scored 9 points apiece, and Liz LaPierre played terrific defense, did a fantastic job on the boards, and added six points. Challen Flaws played great defense and recorded numerous assists.

The Titans will begin the Wheaton North Tournament on December 26, at 3 p.m., vs. Glenbard North. The tournament runs for four days. Good luck, ladies!

As we approach the end of the 2017, we hope you’ll consider making a tax deductible charitable donation to the Glenbrook South Booster Club. Your generous contribution is a critical part of the Club’s ongoing support for Titan athletes and coaches. This fall, the Club donated $350,000 for the construction of a permanent concessions stand and restroom facility at the Titan Stadium. The Club also gave another $28,250 for new equipment for 13 Titan teams, as well as the sports medicine staff.

Boys Basketball

The Boys team beat Warren 49-41 on Thursday night, cooling off a Blue Devils team that came into the game having won four of their last five.

The Titans host New Trier Thursday night at the Titan Dome.

Boys & Diving

Another fun weekend of competing for the boys swimmers and divers. On Friday night all three levels disposed of Niles West in the first CSL South Conference meet of the season.

On Saturday it was the Freshman squads turn to collect the hardware as they won the 8 team Art Van Aman Invitational. The Frosh collected 9 of a possible 11 first place finishes.

Winners included Kevin Schmidt,Hunter Weisensel,Nick Khatkovyy(4x),Andrew Garate (2x), Quinn Loughran (4x), Max Iida (4x), and Max Rybchuk (2x). Quinn Loughran set a meet record in the 100 free, Max Iida set one in the 100 IM and the 200 free relay team of Loughran,Iida,Rybchuk and Khatkovyy set a meet record as well.

The Varsity and JV will host Peoria Notre Dame on Friday, at home at 4:30 p.m.

Cheerleading Congratulations to Varsity Cheer on placing third at the Oswego East Invitational and qualifying for the state championship on January 6 in Springfield!

Cheerleading

The cheerleading squads had a great day Sunday at the Stevenson invite.

The JV team executed their routine clean and strong and the varsity team hit a clean, confident and flawless routine !

The varsity team will continue competing with their second competition this coming Sunday at Oswego East high school.

Boys Hockey

This week the GBS Titan Hockey Club beat Stevenson by a score of 3-1 with goals coming from MJ Jenkins, Ben Thomas, and Kyle Boland, while Jamie Dziurdzik turned away 30 shots. On Saturday, the Titans fell to York 3-1 with the only goal coming from MJ Jenkins and Nic Koster made 21 saves. Today, the Titans beat GBN 2-1 with goals from Ben Thomas and Dylan Stevens. Jamie Dziurdzik "stood on his head" while stopping 17 shots in net.

This week, the Titans will face New Trier Blue on Tuesday, @ 8:45 p.m. @ Centennial Ice Rink in Wilmette before heading out for the Winter break.

Wrestling

Jesse Quijada placed 6th at the Rus Erb tournament over the weekend. There were 19 teams at the tournament. On Thursday, December 21 the wrestling team will wrestle GBN in the field house. Freshmen and JV will wrestle at 5:00 p.m., followed by varsity at 6:00 p.m.
