It is a non-profit organization that supports research in all areas of Economics. It came into existence in August 1992 and began effectively functioning from early 1993, with the full range of activities picking up only in late 1993 after it received its grants from the Government of India and the Ford Foundation. AIMS nTo promote and disseminate research; nTo sponsor economists from all over India and abroad to visit the Delhi School of Economics; nTo conduct regular conferences and workshops; nTo upgrade research infrastructure, including communication and computing facilities. 3 THE COUNCIL Activities During 2010 – 2011 nPulin B. Shah Member Member Professor Dinesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor, University of Delhi, delivered the inaugural address. nMausumi Das nParamjit Member Member The workshop consisted of two parts. The first part consisted of a series of nSugata Bag expository lectures by invited eminent economists on their fields of Member research expertise. The second part consisted of short presentations of current research papers by scholars from India and abroad. ADVISORS Professor Prasanta K.
