Department The University of British Columbia Vancouver, Canada DE-6 (2/88) 11 ABSTRACT The potency of memoirs to shape collective memory makes it important to seek a critical understanding of their political and historical functions. Memoirs offer insights into the character, motives, and influence of political leaders, yet many scholars question this genre's ability to produce accurate history, insightful political analysis, or literature of merit. However, to the extent that memoirs contribute to our knowledge and understanding of the past they deserve closer study. Memoirs mediate remembrance of the recent past by functioning primarily in the interval between contemporary political discourse and professional historiography, where their reception molds historical memory. -

Catalogue 136 - Holiday Gift Catalogue A selection of 60 Churchill books of gift quality Mark Weber Tel: 520-743-8405 The Churchill Book Specialist email: [email protected] PO Box 90689 website: www.wscbooks.com Tucson, AZ 85752 October 2011 Notes to Catalogue 136 The objective of this catalogue is to offer a selection books that are highly attractive and in superb con- dition so as to be suitable as gifts. So this is not a listing of collectable first editions or obscure wartime relics. Rather, it is mostly books from the past 25 years, most of which are deluxe or limited editions and some of which are signed by the author(s). The catalogue is organised in sections of books either by the same publisher or in a specific category such as author signed. Each section starts with an overview of that publisher’s offerings and then lists specific titles, some of which have multiple choices in condition. The most expensive are usually either sealed or boxed, but bear in mind that these only make sense for collectors who will hide such treasures away rather than display them. The emphasis is on books between $50.00 and $500.00, but there are 3 above this (mostly sets) and a few below. A recommended technique is to circle desired items and then leave this catalogue out where Santa may be able to view it. Best Holiday wishes to you all.
