The graduation ceremony immediately follows the service. This year’s speaker is Pastor Mark Jacobson from Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Glendale. Our student speakers are Paige Marten and Eli Jacobson Attendance will be limited to guests of the graduates. However, we invite everyone else to attend virtually. It will be streamed on our YouTube channel; the link is found on ALAcoyotes.org. Congratulations to our 49 graduates! ALA STAFF UPDATES Join us in praising God for his workers! We are pleased to announce that Miss Mykenna Schneiter was assigned to ALA by the Assignment Committee upon her graduation from Martin Luther College (MLC) in New Ulm, Minnesota. She will be teaching in the area of the physical sciences. She will also lead our softball program. In related news, Mr. Caleb Paul, who served as our interim Spanish instructor, also graduated from MLC and received a call to Nebraska Lutheran High School in Waco, Nebraska. Earlier this school year, Mr. Frank Kim accepted our call to teach mathematics at ALA. He is coming to us from Huron Valley Lutheran High School in Michigan. He and his wife will make their move to Arizona this summer. Recently, Mrs. Sheri Turner joined our staff as the new Finance Director. She has been working with John Mueller for a few weeks already and will take over the position this summer. We are still planning to hire a building and grounds assistant in the coming weeks. If you know someone who might be interested, please share this opportunity. 6 COYOTE SUMMER CAMPS We welcome all children entering grades 4-8 who are interested in attending our volleyball, basketball, and baseball camps—no prior experience is needed! Now is the time to register! Coyote Summer Sports Camps offer excellent, affordable instruction, with opportunities to learn the fundamentals of these sports. Our camp directors are teachers and coaches who are experienced in working with children of all ages. See more and register now at ALAcoyotes.org/camps. Wilkommen John Kander (1927 – Present) From Cabaret Based off of the 1951 play by queer playwright John Van Druten, Cabaret was written and premiered in 1966 by John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Joe Masteroff. The play by Van Druten, titled I Am a Camera, was inspired by the 1939 novel by Christopher Isherwood, Goodbye to Berlin. This novel is important in the inception of Cabaret as well as I Am a Camera, as it gives the plot, the conflict, and the characters used throughout the play and the musical.

We are dedicated to the cultural, musical, and social enrichment of metropolitan Phoenix. We serve the community by providing affordable and accessible performances of choral music from many traditions, eras and cultures. Our repertoire ranges from classical to pop, patriotic, gospel and Broadway. We have released four CDs, have had multiple TV appearances and premiered new works. We are proud to be known as “the choir that cares.” We share our gifts of music, companionship and goods with the needy, ill and homeless. Our local partners include St. Mary’s Food Bank, Lost Our Home, Feed My Starving Children, UMOM shelters, the Banner Alzheimer Institute (BAI), St. Matthew’s School, Duet, and local senior living communities. We perform 3 local concerts per year and have graced the stages of Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall (New York City, NY), the Herberger Theater and Orpheum Theater (Phoenix, AZ).     Fantasia The famous soundtracks of Walt Disney's masterpieces Sang Eun Kim soprano Luigi Giachino piano and transcriptions The Korean soprano Angela Kim with her wonderful voice and endearing presence on the stage meets the harmonies of the pianist Luigi Giachino, a great expert in film music, in a repertoire dedicated to the famous soundtracks of Walt Disney's masterpieces. The concert can be realized with the cinematographic projections made by Alba Film Festival. Since 1923 the Disney Studios have presented films that built the international history of cinema and animation, becoming immortal masterpieces as well, released from a mere function of entertainment and projected into a more “philosophical” dimension, to the point of rightfully becoming part of a worldwide popular culture. Despite the changes of time, aesthetics and lifestyles, Disney's lesson always remains current and reminds us that, despite the small and big difficulties of the life, we must continue to look forward, using the resources we have and finding solutions, never feeling lost and always listening to our emotions. The repertoire of this concert program embraces half a century of the Disney production and is a tribute to his unique style which also influenced the soundtracks. In the selected pieces, the atmospheres of poetry and dream are alternated with more playful and light-hearted moments, enhancing the versatility and great technical preparation of our artists.     Catalogue of Photographs of Performers and Shows in the Archives of the Embassy Theatre Foundation The archives of the Embassy Theatre Foundation hold more than 3000 artifacts, including more than 600 photographs of vaudevillians inscribed to Bud Berger (long-time stage man- ager at the Embassy Theatre, known as the Emboyd until 1952); more than 300 posters, playbills, programs, stools, and even guitars signed by the stars and casts of shows that have played at the Embassy Theatre over the past forty years, rang- ing from classic and current Broadway shows to acrobatic groups, choral ensembles, dance shows, ballet, stand-up comedians, rock bands, country singers, travel films, silent films, theatre organists, and so on; and hundreds of publicity photographs of performers, shows, and events at the theatre, primarily from the period following the establishment of the Embassy Theatre Foundation and its rescue of the theatre from the wrecking ball in 1975; and a nearly complete run of the journal of the American Theatre Organ Society. The archive is now almost fully catalogued and preserved in archival housing. Earlier excerpts from the catalogue (available on the Archives page of the Embassy Theatre’s web site) cover the photographs inscribed to Bud Berger and the posters, playbills, programs, stools, and so on from later shows at the Embassy. This is the third excerpt, covering the public- ity photographs of the last forty-five years and a few photographs of earlier events, Bud Berger, and other members of the stage crew. The publicity photographs are primarily of individ- ual performers, but a few shows are presented as well, including Ain’t Misbehavin’, Annie, Barnum, Bubbling Brown Sugar, Cabaret, California Suite, Cats, A Christ- mas Carol, Dancin’, Evita, Gypsy, I'm Getting My Act Together And Taking It On The Road, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Peter Pan, Same Time Next Year, Side by Side by Sondheim, and Ziegfeld: A Night at the Follies.

This clever and charming musical is directed by Resident Artist James Michael McHale and music direction is by Resident Artist Robyn Manion. The show is performing July 9 - August 8, 2021. Before they wrote Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, The Greatest Showman, Dogfight, and many other modern musical classics, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul wrote a thrilling song cycle about four burgeoning adults asking classic coming-of-age questions about love, commitment, identity, and meaning. For the first time in Orange County, see how the Oscar, Grammy, Tony, and Golden Globe Award-winning song team started their journey — with a charming, witty and honest examination of adulthood that explores what happens when we’re teetering on the edge of the rest of our lives. Please note that this show contains adult language. Back in 2005, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul were undergraduates at the University of Michigan who were feeling dissatisfied with the roles they were being cast in for their college shows. Deciding to do something about it, Pasek and Paul (who had casually written only a couple of songs together at this point) decided to produce their own show -- an original piece called Edges that would be made up entirely of songs they would write and would star fellow college students.

Diploma thesis supervisor Mgr. Lucie Podroužková, Ph. D. ANNOTATION This diploma thesis deals with British musical composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and his works. The first part of the thesis introduces Lloyd Webber’s biography, his close collaborators as well as his production company the Really Useful Group and description of all his works. The main part of the thesis is aimed at his musicals Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar , rather their origin and development, the main plot and their main characters that have many things in common. Both these musicals are based on topics from the Bible. The thesis also deals with the librettos and their translation into Czech. ANOTACE Diplomová práce se zabývá britským hudebním skladatelem Andrew Lloyd Webberem a jeho díly. První část práce seznamuje s Lloyd Webberovým životopisem, jeho blízkými spolupracovníky, stejně jako s jeho produkční společností Really Useful Group a popisem všech jeho děl. Hlavní část práce je zaměřena na muzikály Josef a jeho úžasný pestrobarevný plášť a Jesus Christ Superstar , přesněji řečeno jejich vznik a vývoj, hlavní dějovou linii a jejich hlavní postavy, které mají mnoho společného. Oba tyto muzikály jsou založeny na příbězích z Bible.
