It was the 1989 . Less than four minutes of the game remained. The San Francisco 49ers’ opponents led by three points. And the team was far from scoring. didn’t give up, though. He led the 49ers on a 92-yard drive. With 34 seconds left, the 49ers made a touchdown! The team won its third Super Bowl.

Tony Morabito started the 49ers in 1946. The young team struggled. From 1950 to 1969, it only played in the playoffs once. The team made it to the NFC championship game in 1971 and 1972. But it lost both times.

In 1849, many people came to California looking for gold. The team’s name comes from this gold rush.

In 1979, Bill Walsh became coach. He drafted Montana that same year. Together, the two led the team to victory. In 1981, the team won its championship. But the 49ers didn’t stop there. It won that season’s Super Bowl too.
