partner to Strike Out Hunger again

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL July 28, 2019 - Strike out Hunger returns to First Data Field on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019. That night, the St. Lucie Mets are partnering with Treasure Coast Food Bank to turn a night at the ballfield into a strike against hunger.

Treasure Coast Food Bank will be holding a food drive and other activities at the field from 5 to 7 p.m. Any- one bringing two or more canned food items will receive one free ticket to that night’s game against the Clearwater Threshers.

“This is our third year to partner with the Mets for Strike Out Hunger, and it’s always a great evening at First Data Field,” said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “We’re grateful for the player’s ongoing support of our mission to solve hunger on the Treasure Coast.”

Patrons will learn more about hunger on the Treasure Coast throughout the game. Treasure Coast Food Bank also will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets during the event. Before the game, fans can support Treasure Coast Food Bank while testing their skills in a round of cornhole A dollar buys three tosses, and anyone putting 2 of 3 bags in the hole wins a prize donated by the Mets.

The three-peat of Strike Out Hunger night is one of several ways the Mets have supported Treasure Coast Food Bank. The players also have packed food for the Backpack school food program, held food drives, and autographed handmade bowls for the St. Lucie County Empty Bowls project.
