Northeast Alabama Community College Library Instructions for Downloading OverDrive Using an Apple iPad or iPhone

You will need the following: • Your Apple iPad/iPhone • NACC Library card number that has been activated • Apple ID (username and password) – you will only need this the first time to install the OverDrive app

*For an easier alternative, consider OverDrive’s new READ format eBooks, which are browser-based eBooks

One-Time Set-Up Instructions (1st Time Only) Step 1: Installing OverDrive App

• Go to the App Store™ • Search for the OverDrive app by typing in OverDrive. (See screenshot below)

• Tap FREE or GET and then INSTALL APP. There is an iPad version and an iPhone version. Make sure you are downloading the appropriate one for your device. (See screenshot on next page)

• If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password. (See screenshot below)

• Tap the OverDrive icon to download the OverDrive App onto your device, but be patient. It will take several seconds. (See screenshot below)

Step 2: Adding Your Library • Open the Home Menu and tap “Add a Library” in the upper left corner of the screen. (See screenshot below)

• Search using the NACC Library’s zip code of 35986. (See screenshot below)

• Select Northeast Alabama Community College Library.

Every Time You Check Out an Searching and Downloading eBooks • To search for an eBook title you wish to read, tap on the OverDrive app.

• Then tap on Northeast Alabama Community College. When browsing your library’s digital collection, sign in by tapping the Account icon so that you have access to all the account features. Use the 14-digit library card number, which is found on the back of your student ID card, or on the front of your beige or silver library card to complete the sign in process. • To search for an eBook title you wish to read, go to the search icon (magnifying glass).

• Make sure the iPad/iPhone eBook format is an option. It will be listed as EPUB eBook format under the Available Formats that are listed on the right side of the screen. Also check the availability of the copy which is located beneath the title of the item. If the item is checked out, you will be given an opportunity to place a hold under Add to Wish List. (See screenshot below)

• Click on the Borrow button to check out the item. • Your lending period will default to 14 days, but you may change it to 7 days if you would like. • Tap on the Add to App (if shown) or go to your Checkouts page (under My Account) to see all of your options for the title. It will take a few seconds for the title to download. • You should now be able to read the eBook. If the eBook is not readily accessible, go to My Account, then Checkouts, Add to App-ePub , and Read Now.

Returning an eBook The OverDrive Media Console app makes it easy to return an eBook when you are done with it. • Launch the OverDrive app, go to Menu, then Bookshelf. • While viewing the list of titles in your OverDrive Bookshelf, tap and hold on a title for the Return to Library option.
