FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CFC to Premiere Two Short Films at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival

Toronto, August 7, 2014 – The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) is pleased to announce that two of its short films created through the Short Dramatic Film Program will see their World Premieres at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival: STILL and WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU.

STILL, from Toronto-based writer/director Slater Jewell-Kemker, producers Courtenay Bainbridge and Jonathan Bronfman, writer Kaveh Mohebbi and editor Maureen Grant, stars Emily Piggford (Hemlock Grove, FROST) alongside CFC Actors’ Conservatory alumnus Giacomo Gianniotti (Murdoch Mysteries, Reign). In STILL, Sadie (Piggford) is lost in an isolated forest with her abusive boyfriend Jake (Gianniotti). After he falls through the ice of a river and drowns, Sadie discovers duplicates of both herself and Jake, giving her a chance to change their fate and get the love she’s always wanted.

WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU, from Vancouver-based writer/director Rob Grant, producers Peter Harvey and Luke Black, writer Stu Marks and editor Victor C. H. Fan, stars Connor Jessup (, Blackbird), Alex Harrouch (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and Aidan Green (Reign). In WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU, three bullied high school seniors get in a horrific car accident after being chased from winter formal. Two discover that they can reappear completely healed after they die, and an argument ensues when they must decide the fate of their paralyzed friend.

Both STILL and WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU were created through CFC’s Short Dramatic Film Program and feature original music by The Slaight Family Music Lab residents Joseph Murray and Lodewijk Vos of Menalon and Matthew O’Halloran.
