Bibliography of Oral Histo~ySources Wilma MacDonald

Introduction During my twelve years of research into the topic of oral history and archives I've accumulated an ecclectic bibliography of "how to do" oral history manuals, conference proceedings, "show and tell" descriptive articles mdworks affirming the value of oral history, in addition to the rmre functional archival works related to oral history materials and the problems associated with handling this media type. I hope you will find this bibliography covering the period from the 1970s to the early 1990s helpful. It includes separate sections on copyright/legal issues, guides/manuals on oral history methodology, directories and inventories of oral history collections, bibliographies and, finally, book reviews. However, some subject areas are more current than others. My bibliography represents an English language bias and begs to be supplemented by bibliographic information to reflect the diverse linguistic groups and the multidisciplinary nature of oral history in . This bibliography will complement my article entitled "The Origins of Oral History Programmes in the United States, Great Britain and Canada: A Comparison1' published in the Canadian Oral Histo y Association Journal 10 (1990): 12-24.
