Recently, the owners of 135 acres in unincorporated south Fulton County filed a petition seeking annexation into the City of Chattahoochee Hills. Georgia Unfiltered 1,117 likes Late last week, those property owners received some good news from Fulton County officials. The Planning and Community Services Department could find no basis upon which to file a valid objection to the annexation.
Like Page Share Under Georgia law, Fulton County can only object to annexation requests because of a material increase in burden upon the county directly related to any one or more of the following: (1) The proposed change in zoning or land use; (2) Proposed increase in density; and (3) Infrastructure Be the first of your friends to like this demands related to the proposed change in zoning or land use.
If Fulton County objects, the annexation is not stopped, however. The proposed annexation would then go before a five-member arbitration panel to determine if Fulton County's objection is valid, and to mediate any differences between the county and the city. Georgia Unfiltered Fulton County Commissioners are expected to approve the 135 acre annexation at their 18 May 2016 about a year ago meeting, since planning officials could find no valid reason to object.
