This afternoon, we visit Cold Hollow Cider Mill . A Vermont legend since 1974, the mill is New England’s largest producer of apple cider. See how cider and donuts are made, browse the bakery and grab some lunch on our own in the Applecore Luncheonette. This afternoon, we have a guided tour of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory complete with samples. Grab a cone before we depart for check in at our hotel in Burlington. Dinner is included this evening at a locally popular restaurant. The remainder of the evening is ours to enjoy. Relax in the lounge or visit Adirondack Mountains the Vermont Gift Barn and Gallery located adjacent to the hotel. Day 3 Save some room after breakfast on our own this morning for a cup of fresh brewed coffee at the Green Mountain Coffee Visitor Center . We sample their coffee during a home roasting demonstration before departing for a tour of the Rock of Ages Granite Quarry in Barre, VT. The largest quarry in existence offers an excellent view of the machinery and operations of a working quarry. Following our visit, lunch is Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory included in an 1880’s barn recreated into a bed and breakfast. A scenic drive this afternoon takes us by Squam Lake where On Golden Pond was filmed in 1981. We arrive in Laconia, NH this evening and check in to our overnight accommodations near the White Mountains on Lake Winnipesaukee . Following check in, we enjoy an included dinner at a locally popular restaurant featuring good old country cooking. This evening, stroll the beach, grab a drink at the beach bar or catch the entertainment in the lounge. Day 4 Rock of Ages Granite Quarry Touring through the beautiful state of New Hampshire is highlighted in the morning by a breathtaking cruise of Lake Winnipesaukee , New Hampshire’s largest lake, across to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire . Upon arrival, we enjoy some time to get lunch on our own and browse the quaint gift shops before departing for Bar Harbor, ME . A delicious dinner is included this evening at the Jordan Pond House Restaurant , the only restaurant located within Acadia National Park. Enjoy unparalleled views and world famous popovers as we dine on the edge of Jordan Pond. This evening, we check into our hotel in Bar Harbor, home for the next two nights. Lake Winnipesaukee Day 5 After an included continental breakfast this morning, we explore the beautiful town of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park . People have been drawn to the rugged coast of Maine throughout history and today we see why as we drive past Bass Harbor Head Light and Cadillac Mountain , the tallest mountain along the eastern coast of the United States. We travel down the 27 mile, historic Park Loop Road offering outstanding views of the Acadia National Park’s ocean shoreline , coastal forests and mountain silhouettes making stops along the way for photo opportunities and exploration. Following some time to freshen up at our hotel this afternoon, we’ll take a leisurely ride up the coast of Maine for a delicious Downeast Jordan Pond Lobster Bake surrounded by amazing ocean views. Day 6 Following our continental breakfast, we depart early this morning crossing the border into New Brunswick, Canada where we catch the ferry over to Digby, Nova Scotia . Grab some lunch on our own on board the ship then sit back and relax as we gaze out at magnificent vistas during the voyage. After we debark the ship in Nova Scotia, we’ll make our way for the capitol city of Halifax . Dinner is included at a casual fine dining restaurant en route to our hotel located on Mount Desert Island. The remainder of the evening is ours to enjoy and rest for tomorrows adventure. Bar Harbor Day 7 Enjoy another included breakfast this morning before departing on a sightseeing tour with a local step on guide. Founded in 1749, Halifax is steeped in maritime history. On our tour, we see Grand Parade Square, the Citadel, the Devonian Granite Rock Formations and more. We’ll stop for lunch on our own in Peggy’s Cove , one of the most popular stops in Atlantic Canada. Set on the rocky shores, the lighthouse and village at Peggy’s Cove are a photographer’s paradise. Returning to the hotel this afternoon, we have some time to relax and Park Loop Road unwind before an included dinner on Halifax’s beautiful waterfront featuring unobstructed views of the water from every angle. Day 8 Following another included breakfast this morning, we depart for Yarmouth, Nova Scotia . Upon arrival, we have lunch on our own overlooking Yarmouth’s waterfront before departing on a tour of the area with a local step on guide. We tour the historic town of Yarmouth with its beautiful homes of the sea captains from 125-150 years ago when Yarmouth was known world wide for its sailing fleet. Peggy’s Cove We drive leisurely through the country to visit fishing villages and see magnificent ocean side scenery before arriving at Cape Forchu Lighthouse . Located at the tip of scenic Cape Forchu, the light station along with its predecessor has guided vessels safely into Yarmouth Harbor since 1840. After our tour, we check into our hotel in downtown Yarmouth before departing for our included dinner this evening. Tonight we dine on the shores of Lobster Bay in the small fishing village of Lower Argyle. The sunsets seen over the island from here are absolutely breathtaking. Day 9 Today, after breakfast on our own, we begin our return journey Cape Forchu Lighthouse with an all day cruise from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia to Portland, Maine . The Nova Star is a luxury ship containing three restaurants, four bars, a casino, theatre, spa, shopping and more. Enjoy the many amenities or relax in an interior cabin included in our voyage. We have lunch and dinner on our own aboard the ship. Upon arrival in Portland, we check into our hotel, home for the rest of the night. Day 10 Following another included breakfast this morning, more back road driving will take us through New Hampshire, Massachusetts and into the Finger Lakes region of New York. Upon arrival at our Portland, Maine hotel, enjoy a reception of snacks, draft beer and wine produced in the local wineries the region is known for. Dinner is included this evening at a lovely restaurant on the edge of Owasco Lake , one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the Finger Lakes region. Day 11 After another included continental breakfast this morning, we travel into Canada once more to visit the breathtaking Niagara Falls this afternoon.
