OVERALL OBJECTIVES OF THE PLAN (Refer chapter 3 para 3.47-3.55, 3.66-3.71) Primary objectives • To promote and develop UP as a prime national and international tourism destination to all classes of tourists and visitors • To showcase the values of cultural diversity, harmony and the depth of civilisation that represents the State of U.P. Corollary objectives • To promote tourism development in harmony with local community involvement and employment • To protect, preserve, and conserve the monuments that are a testimony to the past and are to be bequeathed to future generations. • To promote the highest possible standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and landscaping elegance OVERALL STRATEGY FOR TOURISM DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION (Refer chapter 3 para 3.56-3.62, para 3.67-3.76) 2.02 UP is a very large state covering approximately 241,000 sq.km. even after the creation of Uttaranchal. There exists a tremendous diversity of sites covering religious, historical / cultural heritage, and wildlife /scenic natural attractions. 2.03 The following tourism development alternatives were examined in the context of formulating the overall strategy for tourism. HAZRA Zoological Survey of India, M-Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700 053, India INTRODUCTION As a result of the increasing interest paid to the recycling of wastewater, municipal wastes and sewage sludge in agricultural practice, it becomes necessary to study the uptake of heavy metals in invertebrates in general and earthworm in particular. It is evident that earthworm can accumulate heavy metals from surrounding polluted soils and other media in their body (Gish and Christensen, 1973; van Hook, 1974; van Rhee, 1975; Ireland, 1979, 1983; Ash and Lee, 1980; Beyer, 1981; Beyer et 01. 1982; Kruse and Barrett, 1985). But no such work has been carried out in India. To fill up this lacuna the present study has been conducted with the following objectives: To determine whether this dominant species of L. mauritii could be use to absorb the heavy metals in contaminated soil and to compare them with a less polluted controlled reserve forest floor. MATERIALS AND METHODS Earthworm samples were collected month wise at random by digging and hand sorting method. Collected samples were repeatedly washed in water and then kept in double distilled water for 72 hours to evacuate soil from its gut. After that period earthworm samples were preserved in 10% formalin. Preserved samples were washed in double distilled water and then oven dried at 65°C for 48 hours Dried samples were crushed, weighed on a microbalance and acid (Nitric and Perchloric) digested on a hot plate.

    Gyanvapi Mosque April 10, 2021 In News: The court, headed by judge Ashutosh Tiwari, allowed a civil suit seeking an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) study of the Gyanvapi Mosque site to determine if it had been “superimposed” after demolishing the Kashi Vishwanath Temple that might have originally stood there. Gyanvapi Mosque Located: Varanasi near Lalita Ghat along the river Ganga,Uttar Pradesh. Emperor: It was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1696. Architecture: The façade is modeled partially on the Taj Mahal’s entrance.The remains of the erstwhile temple can be seen in the foundation, the columns and at the rear part of the mosque History The mosque was built by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1669 CE, after destroying a Hindu temple. The remnants of the Hindu temple can be seen on the walls of the Gyanvapi mosque. The demolished temple is believed by Hindus to be an earlier restoration of the original Kashi Vishwanath temple. The original temple had been destroyed and rebuilt a number of times. Aurangzeb’s demolition of the temple was also attributed to the escape of the Maratha king Shivaji and the rebellion of local zamindars (landowners). Jai Singh I, the grandson of Raja Man Singh, is alleged to have facilitated Shivaji’s escape from Agra. The temple’s demolition was intended as a warning to the anti-Mughal factions and Hindu religious leaders in the city. Kashi Vishwanath Temple Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The Temple stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganga, and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, or Jyotirlingams, the holiest of Shiva Temples.
