Another LCQ Victory for Jens Getteman! Another LCQ victory for Jens Getteman! GP OF THAILAND Jens Getteman, the sole 24MX Honda Racing rider in Thailand, recorded his second consecutive Last Chance race win today. It was another sign that the young Belgian is really starting to gel with his Honda CRF450R. Getteman clearly demonstrated his ability to mix it up in the elite MX1 class but crashes and technical problems prevented him to capitalize on his speed. In the end Jens finished 21st overall in MX1, and he’s 20th in the Word Championship tied on points with countryman Kenny Van Dueren. Reigning world champion Antonio Cairoli won the event, ahead of Gautier Paulin and Clément Desalle. Big jumps, speed and elevation changes were generously on offer in Si Racha. While all GP regulars were impressed with the level of the inaugural Thai organisation they were equally intimidated by the brutal weather conditions. Unbearable heat -close to 37 degrees on the cloudy Sunday- and intense humidity made racing even more challenging than usual. Saturday’s programme was even delayed due to a rainstorm. Luckily the high local temperatures ensured good conditions for the qualifying race where Getteman came 21st after a first corner tangle. Very much at home in the mud Jens’ improvised evening rain dance unfortunately didn’t generate the envisioned results for race day. Regardless the 19-year old 24MX Honda rider placed a strong 14th during the morning warm-up. The Dunlop-shod MX1 rookie had a decent start and had his eyes on 16th place when he crashed and hit the handlebars with his stomach in the first sprint on Sunday. Getteman pulled out of the race but performed strongly in the Last Chance Qualifier. Just like he had last week ‘Area 51’ grabbed the holeshot and checked out. Jens maintained a good rhythm, was never threatened and led comfortably until the flag dropped. With Jens Getteman, Harri Kullas, Kenny Van Dueren and Kevin Fors also transferring to the Super final. A crash-filled Super Final hampered the Belgian’s chances. Eventually Getteman was forced to retire with a broken radiator. Both 24MX Honda Racing riders, Jens Getteman and Nikolaj Larsen are due to battle in the Valkenswaard Grand Prix for the third round of the FIM MX1 World Championship on Monday April 1st. Jens Getteman, 24MX Honda Racing: “It was a weekend of ups and downs. A bit frustrating really because my lap times were quite good. After my crash in the opening moto I had difficulties breathing. I decided to pull out, maybe in hindsight I shoud’ve tried to push on longer. Although I have to add it’s a tough call if you know you’ll probably have to do the energy-sapping Last Chance Qualification anyway. In terms of riding the LCQ was great for me, I was quite smooth and didn’t make too many errors. Initially my jump from the gate was promising in the Super Final. Unfortunately I messed up in the corner and lost quite a lot of ground. Early on in the moto my bike developed a problem with the clutch so I was forced to go into the pits. When I rejoined the race I was 19th in MX1 and trailing Strijbos. I managed to match his pace but hit the deck with another rider. That crash broke my pace, I fell one more time and damaged the radiator. With all water coming out I had no choice but to come in. Luck was not on our side during both overseas race, but I’m really looking forward to the Dutch GP in Valkenswaard. I like the sand and it’s so close to home that it’s basically another home Grand Prix!” Follow 24MX Honda Racing on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/24mxhondaracing Moto1 MX1 1.

+39 06 36857828 | Instagram | Twitter | [email protected] www.eurolympic.org OCTOBER N.186 MESSAGE FROM EOC PRESIDENT JANEZ KOCIJANČIČ Dear colleagues, It is with a heavy heart that I start this newsletter looking back at what was an otherwise excellent Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games from 6-18 October. On the one hand, your young athletes once again did our continent proud, winning the lion’s share of the medals and sending a clear message that Europe’s future on the Olympic stage is in good hands. But on the other, the untimely passing of our dear friend and colleague Patrick Baumann was a terrible shock and the hole it has left in the Olympic Movement will be a difficult one to fill. On behalf of all of us at the EOC, and the Olympic Movement throughout Europe, I offer my sincere condolences to everyone affected, in particular his wife and children. He will be profoundly missed. It is difficult to transition into a more lighthearted topic after that, but I am sure Patrick would have wanted us all to continue promoting sport and the Olympic values with the same amount of passion or possibly even more now that he is gone. So with that, I would like to congratulate all the ENOCs and their athletes for their hard work, dedication and success in Argentina. In the end, the Russian Federation topped the standings with 59 medals, led by swimmers Kliment Kolesnikov and Andrei Minakov, who each won six golds and one silver.

  • Portuguese Setback for 24MX Honda Racing Riders
Portuguese setback for 24MX Honda Racing riders Agueda - The sixth round of seventeen in the FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship dealt both Nikolaj Larsen and Santtu Tiainen an unfortunate blow. After claiming 17th in the opening moto in Agueda Tiainen chose not to start in the second sprint due to a painful knee. His team mate suffered a back injury on Saturday morning after crashing in the wave section. Although Larsen attempted to ride in qualifying and during warmup he realized that two GP motos were beyond his reach due to the discomfort and pain. The sunny and hot conditions south of Porto seemed to please Finnish ace Santtu Tiainen. After a disappointing performance in the Open Dutch Championship in Gemert last week ST167 responded with solid riding on the bumpy and demanding Portuguese track on Saturday. Tiainen started the qualifying affair around 14th place behind Jonathan Barragan, dug deep and crossed the line in 15th. Unfortunately the sole 24MX Honda rider got caught up in a second corner scrap in the first heat. Down from 19th and after losing valuable time Santtu started pushing hard. Relentless work in the Portuguese heat eventually paid off for Tiainen who secured four championship points. Struggling to walk properly after the moto it was obvious that even the determined Finn needed to back out for the second race. Santtu Tiainen: “I was quite happy about my riding on Saturday but I just got a bit unlucky today. In the second corner I sort of got stuck with Matiss Karro and twisted my knee.
