  • Ringhalsveteranernas Höstresa Till Volvo Och Operan I Göteborg.

Polestar 1 – European test drive media information 1. Vehicle overview 2. Design 3. Chassis and body 4. Suspension and braking 5. Powertrain and performance 6. Safety 7. Packaging and customer offer 8. Pricing and delivery 9. Conclusion Vehicle overview Polestar 1 is an Electric Performance Hybrid, a combination of concept car looks, a cutting-edge drivetrain and driver-focused dynamics. With this car, Polestar sets a new direction, redefining electric performance and spearheading design and technology, not only for its own products but for the automotive industry at large. Polestar 1 is a beautiful carbon fibre-bodied grand tourer with an electric-first hybrid drivetrain. With a double electric rear axle and a 34 kWh battery, the Polestar 1 offers up to 125 km* (78 miles) of electric range on the WLTP cycle – well above average daily driving requirements. This is a hybrid car that can be driven every day on electric power alone. A two-litre turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine adds both range and performance to deliver a genuinely exciting drive. Total combined output is 609 hp and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque, with real torque vectoring ensuring ultimate control and accuracy. For Polestar, performance is more than just speed and power. Performance also manifests itself in the way the car is designed, from body construction and exterior surfaces to the cosseting driver-centric interior. Design is at the core of everything we do. From our communications to the places we work, and of course our cars – design inspires us to think differently and deliver excellence.

  • Full Product Details Exterior – Body
Polestar 1 – Full Product Details PURE, PROGRESSIVE, PERFORMANCE The first car from Polestar, named Polestar 1, forms a halo for the Polestar brand. The Polestar 1 is a two-door, 2+2-seater Grand Tourer Coupé with an ‘Electric Performance Hybrid’ powertrain. A maximum of 500 cars per year will be built. “Most electric cars are fast - that’s a product of the attributes of electric motors. However, for Polestar, performance is far more holistic than just straight-line speed. It’s about acceleration, of course, but it’s also about cornering, braking, suspension control, chassis feedback and steering feel. This is what Polestar calls Progressive Performance,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar. Exterior – Body BODY IN CARBON FIBER Practically all parts of the body, including the doors, bonnet/hood and boot/trunk lid, are made of carbon fiber (i.e. carbon fiber reinforced polymer, ‘CFRP’ or ‘CRP’) for maximum stiffness, torsional rigidity and lightness. The torsional rigidity is increased by 45% and the structure is lighter-weight than a body in steel. This reduced weight amongst the upper portion of the car also contributes to a lowered center of gravity. Despite the body being made of carbon fiber, the only places the raw carbon fiber material is visible on the exterior is at the lower front and rear sections. When the boot/trunk lid is opened, a structure on the inside is unpainted, and carbon fiber is visible. Benefits The stiff and torsionally rigid body, together with the low center of gravity, contribute to great handling with consistent and precise chassis dynamics.

  • Volvo History 1924 to 2003
Volvo Cars History Page 1 of 1 1924 The decision to found Volvo was taken by accountant Assar Gabrielsson and engineer Gustaf Larson over a meal of crayfish at the Sturehof Restaurant in Stockholm on 25 July 1924. The two had worked together at SKF and had both been considering the manufacture of a Swedish car for several years. A car built from Swedish steel – then the best in the world – would be of higher quality, enabling it to compete successfully with the leading American cars on the market. http://media.volvocars.com/75thanniversary/print.asp?year=1924&lang=text... 28/08/2006 Volvo Cars History Page 1 of 1 1925 The drawings for the first car were produced in the children’s bedroom in Larson’s house by young engineers, such as Jan G. Smith. In autumn 1925, Henry Westerberg was engaged to finish the drawings. In the process, he became Volvo’s first employee – and the first to be laid off temporarily in 1926. However, he was rehired later and went on to become Volvo’s longest-serving employee, spending 55 years with the company. http://media.volvocars.com/75thanniversary/print.asp?year=1925&lang=text... 28/08/2006 Volvo Cars History Page 1 of 1 1926 Ten prototypes, nine open-top and one covered, were built at Galco AB in Stockholm, where Larson was chief engineer. These were finished in spring 1926. Some acquired nicknames, such as the light-green ‘Mermaid’, the attractive, red ‘Little Troll’ and the ‘Jakob’, commemorating the day that Volvo was ‘conceived’ by Gabrielsson and Larson in 1924.
