Zapruder film From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Frame 150 from the Zapruder Film The Zapruder film is a silent, 8 mm color home movie shot by Abraham Zapruder in Dallas, Texas, in Dealey Plaza while standing near "the grassy knoll" during the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. It is the definitive, most authoritative footage of the assassination. Contents [hide] • 1 Background • 2 History • 3 Use in "JFK" • 4 External links [edit] Background Zapruder filmed the scene with a Model 414 PD Bell & Howell Zoomatic Director Series Camera that operated via a spring-wound mechanism at an average tested speed of 18.3 frames-per-second. The entire Dealey Plaza exposed film frames lasts 26.6 seconds, with the presidential assassination sequence occupying 19.3 seconds. There are 486 frames altogether. The sequence is recorded on Kodak Kodachrome II 8 mm movie safety film. Zapruder, who suffered from vertigo, made the film while being steadied by his receptionist, Marilyn Sitzman, standing on the most western of two concrete pedestals which extend from the John Neely Bryan north pergola cement structure, overlooking Elm street in Dealey Plaza. President Kennedy's automobile was below and almost exactly in front of Zapruder on Elm Street, at the time of his fatal wound to the head. The film has been used by the Warren Commission and all subsequent investigations of the assassination. The Zapruder frames used by the Commission consist of exhibits 889–899 plus exhibits 901 and 902 (totaling less than 1 second of the actual 26.6 second film), published in the commission supporting volume XVIII. -

Journalists of Al Día and The Dallas Morning News announce union organizing campaign FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 20, 2020 Contact: Dave Tarrant & Cassandra Jaramillo [email protected] (469) 645-8617 Dallas, Texas – Citing their respect and devotion to the historic Dallas Morning News – the oldest continuously operated business in Texas – journalists throughout the newspaper took a major step Monday toward forming a union. With a majority of staff backing the effort, a delegation of newsroom employees at The Dallas Morning News in solidarity with our sister publication Al Día officially asked A.H. Belo Co. to recognize the Dallas News Guild as a unit of The NewsGuild-Communications Workers of America. The Dallas Morning News – Texas’ leading newspaper – is set to become the first major newspaper newsroom in the so-called “Right-to-Work” state to unionize in recent history. Ironically, The News is the publication credited with coining the term “Right To Work” in a Labor Day 1941 editorial. Organizers with the union requested voluntary recognition from A.H. Belo, the News’ parent company, Monday morning. Recognizing the union would set the stage for contract negotiations between A.H. Belo and the newsroom staff to begin. The guild will cover more than 100 journalists across all departments of the newsroom. The group’s mission statement shows its aim – to serve as full partners with management to keep the paper strong. “We take immense pride in having the opportunity to serve this community,” the statement reads. “But The Dallas Morning News as an institution fails to truly fulfill its promise and duty to readers when experienced colleagues are lost to layoffs or disillusionment, when employees struggle for pay equity, and young talent have no clear path forward. -

The city of Dallas, Texas, population 600,000, is air capital of the Southwest, a wholesale and manufacturing center, a quality retailing center, one of the largest insurance centers in the nation and an industrial giant. The city, just over one hundred years old, was founded in 1841 by John Neely Bryan on a bluff overlooking the Trinity River Valley. Bryan's cabin still remains on the bluff as a testament of Dallas' amazing growth. In the past fifty years the center of downtown activity has moved eastward from the area surrounding Bryan's cabin. Due to the recently completed Dallas-Ft. Worth expressway, and because of an existing ring of traffic around the down- town area limiting expansion beyond it, the downtown area will, in the immediate future, expand back to its original location. -

It is a repository for history and content relating to great motion pictures of the past and present and, on a more personal note, is dedicated to those iconic figures of the silver screen which have brought some special focus and meaning into its’ author’s life. However, the following article involves Oliver Stone’s movie J.F.K (1991), a film and a topic that begs further understanding of the actual events that took place before and after the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy in Dealey Plaza on Nov. 22, 1963. It is my sincere hope that history will not be quick to judge this article as a further contribution in support of mere conspiracy theories, lone gunman mythologies or even fictionalized urban legends that continues to surround that assassination. What follows then is a retrospective of history itself – some will undoubtedly argue, as clouded through the lens of a propagandist film maker, but that this author would suggest derive far more credence, respect and investigation than history has had the time or interest to make clear to the American public to date. It is in support of deriving clarity from the facts as presented in Oliver Stone’s film and through a sincere investigation of other informational and archival materials made available elsewhere, and with the humble and utmost esteem and reverence extended to the Kennedy family, for what is undoubtedly a far more intimate - rather than national - tragedy, that this article appears.
