WOCC 8th Annual SPRING Craft Show

Our 8th Annual Craft Show will be on Saturday, April 22nd from 9:00 – 3:00. Our church will be full of booths inside and outside with many unique and talented crafters. We are still taking applications for vendors. Booths are available for $35.00 for an inside booth (8 X 10) and $25.00 for an 8 X 10 (under porch) or 10 X 10 space (outdoors). *** Applications and information can be found on the counter outside the Church workroom. *** Love P A G E 2 What’s Love got to do with it? All you need is love! Where is the love? Crazy in love. I’d do anything for love. Love hurts. I can’t stop loving you. It must have been love. Love me do. You’ve lost that loving feeling. The power of love. Stop! In the name of love! I am sure you guessed it by now but all of those are names of songs that have the word “love” in the title. These are just a few that I could think of off the top of my head. However, there are many more I am sure. Love is a very common thing in music, love found, love lost, crazy acts performed out of love and record breaking songs about broken love. They say the perfect country song is about your loved one, your mode of transportation (truck, horse or tractor) and your dog, and if you play it backwards you get your dog back, your truck back and your love back. Love is not just a popular theme in music, but it also a popular theme in the Bible. I just did a quick search of the Bible and discovered the word “Love” in some form appears 872 times in the Bible. No, I did not go through and count each word myself, but I do love having a computer that can do that for me in seconds. But of those there are many different types of “love” found in the Bible. There are many different Greek words that get translated into the English “Love”. Three of which are the most common found in the New Testament include: “Eros” (noun) which is a sexual love including desire or erotic love. “Phileo” (verb) means to have strong feelings and affection and is often referred to a “brotherly love” and deeply caring for the wellbeing of another. But the most used, especially by Jesus is the word “Agapao” (verb) and is a special word that describes God’s love and it is this perfect love that is described as “a love that is not an impulse or emotion, but an action and is for all humanity”. It is this love that is patient and kind, it is this love that we are called to emulate. It is the highest form of love and can be described as “charity” but it is always placing the needs of others before your own. This Valentine’s Day may we remember our loved ones, both those we love now and those who are gone, but not forgotten. May we continue to strive for this perfect love and share this Agape in such a way that the world understands what Jesus meant when he said to love one another. In the words of St. Francis, “Where there is hatred, let me sow love.” For to love God, is to love like God. I love Western Oaks Christian Church! Shalom, Daniel

Thank you Gay Teter and Wendy Wilkerson for pizza and cupcakes!! Gay did double duty and helped some of our younger children make Valentine cards and play games! Shout out thanks to Angela Ferris for the hotdogs and buns served at our February 5th meeting. We appreciate our parents and church members who bring and prepare our meals!!!

Sunday, February 26th we will have Acolyte training. We will discuss what bringing in the light to worship means and then practice. Look for a schedule, so parents will know when each child is to be the Acolyte.

Sunday, March 5th we will have a Children Worship & Wonder experience for parents. Have you ever wondered what happens when the children leave the worship service? What is Children Worship and Wonder? What is Feast Time? And, how do the children work with the story? On March 5th come and experience CW&W. Your questions will be answered and you'll learn more about this Worship opportunity for children.

Sunday, March 26th, let’s go to the Circus. Shriners Circus is in town and we are able to get tickets for the 2p.m. show. Let Julia know if you would like to attend.
