Summary Known as the denim destination, Buckle strives to achieve its mission of creating the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our guests by implementing creative marketing initiatives to engage them. The Senior Marketing Director will supervise all marketing operations of the company and will collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer and company executives to establish and execute Buckle’s marketing strategy and vision to drive new brand engagement and retain loyal guests.

Primary Relationships As an important member of the team, this person will report to the Chief Executive Officer, work closely with the team, and collaborate on marketing projects throughout the company.

Marketing  In collaboration with the senior management team, responsible to help create, implement and measure the success of a comprehensive marketing program that will enhance Buckle’s position within the marketplace and the general public, and facilitate internal and external communications.  Ensure articulation of Buckle’s desired image and position through consistent communication to all constituencies, both internal and external.  Aggressively monitor and understand the competitive landscape, both strategic and creative.  Demonstrate a strategic view of our and lead the success of our brand and position.  Coordinate media interest in Buckle and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.  Coordinate all creative/graphic development for print and digital media.  Conduct relevant market research and monitor trends.  Lead projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events.  Measure and analyze effectiveness of each marketing program to ensure they deliver value.  Proactively define multi-channel consumer view, strategic impact and points of convergence ensuring the brand is seamlessly communicated across channels.  Define brand digital and social strategy and programs. Lead activation of all digital, social, mobile brand programs across different media platforms.

Planning and budgeting  Responsible for the achievement of marketing mission, goals and financial objectives, as determined by the senior management team. Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to these goals and objectives and report progress to the Chief Executive Officer.

Managing  In consultation with the senior management team, define role requirements, recruit, interview and select well qualified staff.  Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates top quality personnel.  Recruit, train, appraise, supervise, support, develop, promote and guide qualified personnel.  Design, support and oversee cross-functional teams throughout the department, as approved by the senior management team.  Effectively enable staff to take action on behalf of the department by: o Transmitting Buckle’s values, vision and direction; o Respecting and using the skills, expertise, experience and insights of teammates; o Providing direction and resources, removing barriers and helping people transform information into knowledge and learning; o Encouraging people to question organizational assumptions and ask strategic questions; ensuring quality decision-making; o Anticipating conflicts and facilitating resolution; o Engaging people in process as well as tasks; o Encouraging people to use their power; practice their authority, and accept their responsibility; o Modeling behavior; and o Coaching people to success.  Regularly evaluate/collaborate with each teammate on personal performance and development; ensure they are engaged in organizational success and are aware of how they contribute.  Demonstrate initiative, self-reliance and a strong sense of urgency.

Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises Teammates in the Marketing Department. Responsible for the overall direction of entire Marketing team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the 's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Teammates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Teammates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience  BS/BA in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or .  Graduate degree in a related field is desirable.  At least ten years of progressive marketing experience.  Five plus years of senior director level marketing experience in the retail industry preferred.  Exceptional time and project management, and organization and analytical skills and experience.  Extensive experience in brand management and developing business driving marketing plans and brand building programs.  Experience across all types of communication channels.  Extensive experience in digital and interactive marketing, including ecommerce and social media.
