Michael was born about 1841 in Hindmarsh Valley, South Australia. He died on 21 Jul 1872 in Silverton, South Australia. Michael was a labourer at Port Elliot. In 1872 listed as licensee of Silverton Hotel, Silverton, SA. This hotel was destroyed by fire 28 june 1872. Michale died from accident on 21 July 1872. Michael died as the result of injuries received when he was thrown from his cart on a particularly bad section of road. He is buried in the Delamere Cemetery. At that time the Delamere Cemetery was a " very new" cemetery, & it is believed Michael was said to have stopped talking to workmen putting the finishing touches to the fence surrounding the Cemetery, and remarked, " I wonder who will be the first one buried here", or words to that effect. He nearly was the first himself. His first headstone was a marble slab, which was not approved by his wife & was removed & replaced by one considered more appropriate. The original slab/stone was removed & used as a stepping stone over a drain at the church.
