Audition Format and Character Descriptions for The Odd Couple Show Description The Odd Couple is the classic Neil Simon comedy about what happens when persons of opposite personalities and lifestyles become unlikely roommates. The story of slovenly Oscar Madison and neat- freak Felix Ungar first came to the stage in 1965 and was subsequently adapted into a hit movie and later a successful TV series. Note: All actors and crew for this show must be fully vaccinated against COVID. Please bring your CDC Vaccination card to auditions as proof and present it to front desk staff when submitting your audition forms. Also, masks and social distancing are currently required inside the Renaissance Centre during auditions and rehearsals.

Audition Format Please be prepared to read provided selections from the script (a link to sides will be posted on our website before audition dates). Note: sides are provided for you to review and rehearse to the extent you’d like to prepare. You are NOT expected to memorize them. Printed copies will be available at auditions for you to use.

Performers Needed Performers 21 and up are welcome to audition. Experienced or first-time performers who enjoy acting are invited to audition. All ethnicities are encouraged to attend.

Roles Available Six males, two females (Suggested Playing Ages Listed) Oscar Madison: (Male) (Lead) (Late 30s-50s) Sports journalist. An unkempt, recently divorced mess of a man. Felix Ungar: (Male) (Lead) (Late 30s-50s) News journalist. A finicky, fussy hypochondriac with marriage troubles who moves in with Oscar. Murray: (Male) (Supporting) (30s-50s) Poker buddy. NYPD policeman. Speed: (Male) (Supporting) (30s-50s) Poker buddy. Crusty and sarcastic, a playful bully. Vinnie: (Male) (Supporting) (30s-50s) Poker buddy. Mild-mannered and picked on frequently by Speed. Roy: (Male) (Supporting) (30s-50s) Poker buddy. Oscar’s accountant, who possesses a dry sense of humor. Cecily Pigeon: (Female) (Supporting) (Late 20s-40s) Oscar’s upstairs neighbor, Gwendolyn’s sister, a divorcee. She’s English (must be able to perform a British Accent).
