The myth of the unbeatable fighter is just that, a myth. In what will go down as the single most memorable UFC fight in history, Ronda Rousey was not only defeated, but systematically destroyed by a fighter and a coaching staff that had spent years preparing for that night. On 2/28, Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey were the two co-headliners on a show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The idea was that Holm, a former world boxing champion, would impressively knock out Raquel Pennington, a .500 level fighter who was known for exchanging blows and not taking her down. Rousey was there to face Cat Zingano, a fight that was supposed to be the hardest one of her career. Holm looked unimpressive, barely squeaking by in a split decision. Rousey beat Zingano with an armbar in 14 seconds. -

Cubed Circle Newsletter Issue 229 – It's Here Everybody! Say what you will about the build to WrestleMania 32, or even recent WrestleManias in general; I don't think that many would argue with the idea that WrestleMania Weekend is the best time of the year to be a wrestling fan – perhaps only rivalled by the G1 Climax. If you are a fan of professional wrestling there will be something for you to enjoy this weekend, of that you can be sure. We have a light issue for everyone this week, as we get ready for one of our best and biggest issues of the year in our annual WrestleMania issue next week. As always, Ben covers all of the news in the Pro-Wres Digest, as well as coverage of the go-home edition of RAW from Monday night! – Ryan Clingman, Cubed Circle Newsletter Editor The Pro-Wres Digest for March 27th – April 1st. @BenCarass. Top Stories: We unfortunately have some heartbreaking news to start what is the biggest week of the year for pro wrestling, as 32 year-old British wrestler Kris Travis tragically passed away after an 18 month battle with stomach cancer on 31/3. Travis was diagnosed with the disease in October 2014 and had to pull out of the second season of TNA British Bootcamp because of the diagnosis. In 2015 he underwent surgery to remove a tumour and a part of his stomach then went through 18 weeks of intensive chemotherapy, which appeared to put him on the road to recovery. Travis defied all doctors expectations and returned to the ring at a Preston City Wrestling show on August 7th 2015. -
Purpose: Given the Historical Exclusion of U.S
Purpose: Given the historical exclusion of U.S. Latinx visual art in major museums and collections, artists, scholars, curators, and patrons have taken grassroots measures to preserve the cultural contributions of Latinx artists by forming community art organizations, research centers, artist collectives, websites, and databases. However, to date, there does not exist a comprehensive list of where these entities exist, how they were formed, and who they serve. What are the organizations that actively support Latinx visual artists via funding, advocacy, and/or archival means on local, regional, and national levels? Furthermore, where is Latinx visual art supported online, in what ways, and by whom? In 2019, the Center for Comparative Studies in Race & Ethnicity (CCSRE) at Stanford University awarded two un- dergraduate students, Shannen Orquidia Torres and Miguel Samano, summer fellowships to research these questions with USLAF. Under Dr. Rose Salseda’s advisement (USLAF Associate Director; Assistant Professor, Art & Art His- tory, Stanford University), the two students developed the “List of Advocates for Latinx Art,” a resource provided by USLAF for scholars, researchers, and other parties interested in the long and ongoing legacy to support Latinx visual art in the United States. 1970 Renegade Raconteur Bakersfield College Yearbook
.' By Barbara Cheever Among the dignitaries on April11, 1969 as ground was broken for the new state college were, from left to right, Governor Ronald Reagan, Glenn S. Dumke, Chancellor of California State Colleges, and Mayor Donald M . Hart, former trustee board chairman. February, 1970-a new state college rises out of the flat land on Stockdale Highway. Mayor Donald M. Hart predicts a "good student relation ship" between the new state college and BC. " It is difficult to predict how fast either school will grow, but I believe BSC will have a beneficial effect upon the junior college and all of Kern County," he stated. A long-time resident of Bakersfield, Mayor Hart was a stu dent at BC when it was part of the high school. He graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara and served several years as a member of the State College Board of Trust ees, climaxing his tenure as chairman. During his term as chairman, the basic planning and final decision to establish Cal State Bakersfield was completed. He and State Senator Walter Stiern, also a product of BC, are recognized as the two persons most responsible for bringing the new state college to this area. He shares the opinions of Dr. Simonsen and Dr. Romberg that where a junior college already exists in a community the establishment of a state college stimulates the growth of the two-year school. He believes we can expect the same kind of growth here. "There will be a definite pattern of Bakersfield College students and graduates transferring to the four-year institu tion," Hart declared. -
